Auto-rank of Army Head
[edit]Historically, the coronation ceremonies were accompanied by instigation of rank, which was the case of Rama VIII "Ananda" and Rama IX "Bhumipol". In the case of King Rama X "Vajiralongkorn" however, he was seen very recently still wearing the General (Four-Star) rank insigna, and not the five-star rank. - Actually, King Rama VIII never had a coronation, so part of your reasoning might not be accurate. --Paul_012 (talk) 11:34, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- True. But my main point here is that there is no notation at all that Rama X "Vajiralongkorn" has yet to receive the rank. WikiNumbers (talk) 11:17, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
The unsourced part which says the monarch automatically becomes "field marshal" upon enthronement is incorrect. The rank is obtained through actual conferral by the army, not an ex officio rank obtained through assumption of any position. For example, when Bhumibol obtained this rank, it was in 1950 (not in 1946 when he was enthroned) and he was presented with this rank by the army (source). So, I removed the said part. --Miwako Sato (talk) 20:41, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
