develop more, use Falcon Rest website source[edit]

Hey, I have seen some back-and-forth in edits at this page, including that some material (which I never saw) was dropped due to a concern about potential copy violation. Whatever, it probably is fine to include some stuff from there, https://falconrest.com/history/. Including to add some explicit quotes, e.g. perhaps about "in the 1940s, Clay Faulkner’s mansion was converted into a hospital and nursing home. An early ad boasted a quiet location and an ideal climate, at rates of $5.00 to 8.00 per day — according to care required." We just have to be careful giving proper credit to the source, and not copying the entire thing.

Also, the lede was previously edited to put Falcon Rest first. I am okay with that, and also to move the entire page to Falcon Rest, because that does seem to be a valid name and seems to be the current name. Just the NRHP infobox should continue to hold the NRHP listing name, Clay Faulkner House. And, I don't see any source mentioning "Faulkner Rest" as ever being used as a name for the house, so let's not introduce that (unless a source can be shown).

To User:Mrskindrataylor, what do you want added, or whatever? I, and probably other too, am glad to try to help. Please comment here! --Doncram (talk) 19:06, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Also, if you have taken any good pictures of the place you want to share, see [1].
It is called both Falcon Manor and Faulkner Rest in this article.Zigzig20s (talk) 21:21, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Doncram/anyboby, I'm not familiar with sources like the National Park Service pdf much of the article is built on, but is there any reason not to see it as a generally reliable source? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:59, 28 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

For those interested, I asked about it at RSN: Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard/Archive_249#National_Park_Service. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:02, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Rename to Clay Faulkner House[edit]

Based on the sources I checked, and those used in this article, I believe the proper name of the article should be the "Clay Faulkner House" rather than "Falcon Rest". Falcon Rest is the name of the business, but the historic value of the house is attributed primarily to Clay Faulkner. The article's purpose is not to advertise the current business. I believe we should reverse the naming, so this is called CharlesClay Faulkner House and Falcon Rest points to it. --David Tornheim (talk) 08:54, 5 October 2018 (UTC) [corrected 23:55, 5 October 2018 (UTC), 04:56, 6 October 2018 (UTC)][reply]

I think you mean “Clay Faulkner House”. I moved it the other way, because I perceived the modern name is “Falcon Rest” for the whole property, including by dint of current website. I agree that older docs support “Clay Faulkner House” more. It doesn’t matter hugely because both names can be presented.—Doncram (talk) 15:46, 5 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
According to the cited documents, Faulkner named his residence “Falcon Rest” ... in other words, the name of the building predates the business. Blueboar (talk) 01:20, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
True. Corrected my first comment. And my concerns that the change was motivated by WP:PROMO are somewhat lessened by the fact that Doncram has been here dealing with historic property long enough that I doubt his change had anything to do with WP:COI.
Doncram and I agree that older docs support “Clay Faulkner House” more. Also, the title of the application puts Clay Faulkner first. Clay Faulkner is a significant individual, and could no doubt have an article of his own. So, I am still inclined towards changing the name to match the application. Also "Clay Faulkner House" seems to trump "Falcon Rest" when you search the two at once: "clay+faulkner+house"+"falcon+rest" Google Search, e.g. [5]. --David Tornheim (talk) 04:56, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
