Contested deletion

[edit]

Hi There Hell in a Bucket,

I'm new to article creation on Wikipedia and created the DaDaFest page. I went to great effort to create a page that simply displays information about the organisation and I accidentally deleted your deletion notice whilst trying to edit the page. I was just wondering is there a particular aspect of the article that is causing an issue that I could fix? I can't seem to see what part of the article is causing an issue. I don't think it should be deleted as I believe the organisation deserves to have a Wikipedia page and I am unsure of what area on the page is advertising them. If you or another mod could kindly point me in the right direction as to how I could rectify this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Tenacious J

In my opinion this isn't an article aimed at improving the encyclopedia, but rather one to help raise awareness for project or festival. I'm saying that the organization may be notable however the article is written in such a way that we would pretty much have to completely rewrite it. One option you can consider is rewriting this from your sandbox, if you check WP:CORP and meets those qualifications and 3rd party WP:RS and it may well be worthy but it will tale a lot of work. Thanks for the response. Is there anyone on here who could possibly assist me in making the page more appropriate? Or is it better to just overview those guidelines? If I were to delete the sections on the festival and whatnot would that be okay or is it seriously the entire page that is the problem? TenaciousJ (talk) 11:25, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The easiest way forward is to ask the reviewing admin to send it to your sandbox. This will give you more time to flesh out to show clear notability. If you do this I can help you with a review and tweaks on the article before we move it back to mainspace. I would still definitely read those links and one more WP:GNG this is of great yes when stating why the festival is important. And keep in mind I have no way to require these things of you, I just believe it's your best way forward. The reviewing admin could well decide something else. Right, well I could always just copy that to my sandbox myself I suppose. That would be much appreciated, thank you! What i'll do is give those a look over and attempt a rewrite within the next few days. Okay, well if you believe that there is issues with the article then I may aswell begin a rewrite anyway as I'm sure others will agree with you... Am I okay to contact you on your talk page when I have started a rewrite? TenaciousJ (talk) 11:39, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The organisation seems to be notable for the festival. There may be some problems, such as an unreferenced and unclear "Projects & Initiatives" section (what is Arts-Life? were Niet Normaal and Changing Capacities - Changing Identities part of the festival or not?), overuse of some phrases such as "aims to", and bare URLs as references, and the article could be improved by rewriting, but problems are not severe enough to require speedy deletion. Thank you very much for this response. I shall work on the page as much as possible over the next few days. I was going to modify the projects section anyway as I admit that it is pretty poor and I'll dig around for some better sources too. TenaciousJ (talk) 09:14, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
