Train deaths

[edit]

Does anyone have a source for this claim? In this interview (http://www.rediff.com/entertai/2000/jul/05mal.htm) with Malaika Arora she claims nothing like that happened... 81.235.174.98 18:54, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

POV

[edit]

Amazing for its time? it was pretty... but by what standard? I think other films (maybe not Indian ones... although Dilwale Dulhania la Jayenge had pretty shots) definitely rival it... it just has a very advertisement tone.... it really was a great movie though... but it shouldn't sound like that. gren 22:39, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I think that the present version seems alot better. I'm removing the POV check tag now. Thanks IncMan July 2, 2005 10:50 (UTC)

The grammar and overall tone of that plot synopsis honestly sounds like it came from the back of the movie box. Did someone really write that, or is it just taken from the movie? Nickoten 02:13, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Troubles of the people - Tetralogy

[edit]

Guys, dont you think this a teratology, considering Kannathil Muthamittal as well?

Mani decided to make movies about the troubles experienced by people in all the four corners of India. Roja - North Bombay - West Dil Se - East Kannathil Muthamittal - South. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.206.65.97 (talk) 18:42, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject class rating

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 19:13, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Box Office Gross

[edit]

Did this film really gross $4 million? The source is unclear. I tried converting everything on the source, but all my calculations came up with was $2,807,998. Are my findings incorrect? Jacrio (talk) 03:43, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Terrorists in Northeast Provinces?

[edit]

Why does it say that he was interviewing in the North-eastern region? I think the beginning was pretty clearly all in the North - Kashmir or nearby provinces - right? SamuelRiv (talk) 06:21, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I checked again - the train in the beginning was the Barak Valley Express, which goes through Assam in the Northeast. I can get that he was going all around India, seeing different ethnic groups, but I thought that the separatists central to the plot were in Kashmir. If he was indeed interviewing terrorists from, as it would seem, the United Liberation Front of Asom, then why was Meghna there? I could really use some help putting all these separatists into some context. SamuelRiv (talk) 06:49, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think its intentionally ambiguous. The "terrorists" speak Assamese, but the folk dance scene is in Ladakh. The director probably didn't want to identify with any specific separatist group. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.125.90.196 (talk) 04:10, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This article should be locked. This article is being reedited with unreferenced and assumed lines and incidents. This is the third time im editing out unreferenced lines . The film mentions the ULFA terrorists and the protagonist interviews them in the north east and was just filmed in kashmir. The terrorism in Kashmir was dealt in the other film Roja in the same series while the third film Bombay (film) dealt with the Bombay riots. Jibinmathews (talk) 06:28, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Young Meghna

[edit]

As there is a lot of edit warring going on for crediting Jia Khan and Priya Parulekar as young meghna, here is the Youtube source for the proper credit. The video footage clearly says Priya as young Meghna as she is the same actress who played young Annie in Khamoshi. Here is the link. - Vivvt (Talk) 23:51, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

And another one, rather a concrete one. - Vivvt (Talk) 23:57, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
These videos don't prove anything. Someone has added a source now. BollyJeff | talk 01:36, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Have you even seen the second video which credits Parulekar and not Khan? - Vivvt (Talk) 01:51, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It does not list her role though. IMDB lists them both, with Khan as Meghna. Is MidDay not reliable? BollyJeff | talk 02:01, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If start and end credit of the film does not credit Khan, it does not matter who else credits her for whatever they say. IMDB page for the film credits Khan and Parulekar both for acting in the movie and per WP:IMDB/RS, it cannot be cited. Here film is the primary source, MidDay, TOI or any other source for that matter can be secondary and should only support the primary sources and not provide any WP:OR. - Vivvt (Talk) 02:12, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Youtube videos can be edited or not fully uploaded. Maybe the part where her name gets mentioned was left out.--Isaacsirup (talk) 03:30, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That was one heck of an argument I must say!! I am surprised to see kind of arguments you are doing to prove your claims here and elsewhere. - Vivvt (Talk) 11:56, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Also, prove that Khan's credits were "left out" by editing the YouTube video by giving links to the video which credits her or giving a screen shot of the credits. Looking at the above discussion, I started feeling that for some people "seeing is not believing". You need to have a text proof to prove what video shows! - Vivvt (Talk) 13:31, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
IMDB says Jiah khan played young Meghna but was uncredited.[1] Maybe that is why you don't see the name in the video.--Isaacsirup (talk) 20:01, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please read WP:IMDB/RS. It can not be used as a citation. Also, you have not answered any of the questions I asked earlier and what you are saying is WP:OR - Vivvt (Talk) 20:08, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I added four more sources (Mumbai Mirror article, digital spy, THE TIMES OF INDIA and The Indian Express in addition to the Midday source)--Isaacsirup (talk) 20:10, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

All the sources you are providing are WP:SECONDARY and they should support WP:PRIMARY which is film in this case and not supposed to provide any other information which is not shown in the film. Otherwise, its WP:OR - Vivvt (Talk) 20:22, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Btw, even if you add thousand newspaper sources saying Madhuri Dixit acted as a lead in a film, it wouldnt be justifiable if film itself shows Manisha Koirala as lead. Try to understand the difference between primary and secondary sources. - Vivvt (Talk) 20:38, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You both are a bit wrong. The link that was provided above clearly says that secondary sources are preferred to primary sources; and the citations that were added are too many, some are dups of the same text, and none of them clearly say that she played Meghna, it says "a bit part". I think you both still have work to do to prove your points. BollyJeff | talk 20:41, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The only duplicate of the same text is the digital Spy source[2], which refers to TOI. I removed it--Isaacsirup (talk) 20:50, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the link for Priya Parulekar in Khamoshi. The first link I provided also shows her. If you can identify the face by yourself, that would be great. - Vivvt (Talk) 20:53, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Also, Khan is 1988 born and movie was released in 1998. That makes her 10 and she does not look like to be one in the film as said (if at all you believe she is there). But then it would be WP:OR to say so. Some children grow prematurely sometimes! - Vivvt (Talk) 20:59, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know who Miss Malini's sources are, but she is pretty sure that it is Priya: http://www.missmalini.com/2013/06/05/jiah-khan-dil-se/. BollyJeff | talk 22:42, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Miss Malini and user Vivvt are the same person--Isaacsirup (talk) 22:46, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You are awesome. This is awesome. Is this how you are going to end the whole argument? - Vivvt (Talk) 22:53, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Its the same girl from Khamoshi definately. I have read several of Jiah's interviews, Dil Se is never mentioned because she never did the film. Nisabd is always mentioned as her debut. IMDB listing Jiah in Dil Se proves nothing as any registered user can edit IMDB pages. Can anyone find one source dated before Jiah's death which says she was in Dil Se.Shakirfan (talk)

Hrithik Roshan's first movie is Aasha(uncredited), but Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai is considered his debut movie by TOI, OneIndia, Rediff and all other sources [3]

[4] [5] [6] [7]

Likewise,................--Isaacsirup (talk) 23:53, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Here is open challenge for you. Forget about credited-uncredited role. Please let us all know the part/duration in which Khan plays younger Koirala, except the one I provided. Those links clearly shows Parulekar. - Vivvt (Talk) 00:03, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I watched Dil Se recently a few months ago and I straightaway knew it was the same girl from Khamoshi before all these false rumours started. A screenshot from Khamoshi is needed to compare with Dil Se and you would have to be blind to disagree that its the same girl.Shakirfan (talk)

The user Isaacsirup does not listen to any comments, messages and/or warnings and keeps reverting in spite of inviting for the discussion several times. - Vivvt (Talk) 00:17, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Both of you first of all need to stop edit waring. You both can be blocked over this. Isaacsirup seems to have habit of keeping his leg on top. I think it will be okay to keep the version of article before the whole thing started, develop a consensus and then make a change. And Issacsirup, please provide proper arguments. Your arguments like "youtube video can be edited", "Miss Malini and user Vivvt are the same person" are really funny and can be equally made against you. Vigyanitalkਯੋਗਦਾਨ 00:29, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I am absolutely alright to have version before this whole thing started. Rather I made an attempt to comment cast section which credits Khan and Parulekar and asked for consensus on the talk page but he is reverting that as well. And, yeah...some of his arguments are LOL. Gave me a good laugh I must say. :D - Vivvt (Talk) 00:35, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I am providing so many reliable sources yet you keep trying to remove it and insert unsourced crap just because you think that it's not her in the Youtube video. This is ridiculous. See Wikipedia:No original research--Isaacsirup (talk) 00:42, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If you think your sources are all right, why are you then engaging yourself in an edit war. Let the consensus develop and have faith in discussion. Btw it is bit funny for you to talk about reliable sources, yesterday you created a whole lot of mess at Talk:Karisma Kapoor and rejected all reliable sources with all kind of funny arguments. Now here, only because other editor is not listening or you think is removing reliable sources is no excuse for you to engage in an edit war.--Vigyanitalkਯੋਗਦਾਨ 00:50, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Here is the suggestion for the consensus. As the content is stll disputed and very well lies on the article page, can any of the involved (and not involved) editors comment the content till we reach the consensus? I would have done by myself but I am advised by one of the admins not to do so as I was involved in edit warring with Isaacsirup. Thats the step towards DR. - Vivvt (Talk) 21:44, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, title card does not list the parts played by the actors. BollyJeff | talk 01:31, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thats technically true though. However, Khan is not credited at all and the role is not so small to left uncredited. More than anything else, the face says it all. I think that's more than enough. The actor in the film resembles one in Khamoshi. ("Resemble" word might create more confusion.)
  • Hmmm, well in that case, I am leaving the references for other editors to see:
  1. http://www.mid-day.com/entertainment/2013/jun/050613-jiah-khan-1988-2013-a-life-lost-too-soon.htm

  4. http://www.indianexpress.com/news/jiah-khan-amitabh-bachchans-lolita-who-never-topped-that-role/1125093/1
Since probably none of the above references explicitly state that Jiah Khan played the young Meghna, why not just include both actresses and not mention which role they played?--Isaacsirup (talk) 20:15, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • No. We ain't negotiating on that. You should have shown this wisdom two days back! Let us all know where does Khan appear in the movie. Let everybody decide whether she is credited or not. Parulekar is in the movie and credited as well. Its your turn now. We dont need any newspaper sources. Enough of those. Lets talk for the film now. - Vivvt (Talk) 22:25, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hmmm ... just saw your talkback notice. Nobody seems to care. Why are you so obsessed with this film? I never have fully seen this film--saw parts of it and it seemed boring as hell. Can't believe that we got blocked for edit-warring over this crap that no one cares about. I need to first see the film fully if I am to answer your question. Why only we are discussing it? Where are the administrators who blocked us to maintain the integrity of the article? Where is the administrator who protected this article? I believe I opened a new section for this article on Wikipedia talk:Noticeboard for India-related topics ... Oh well, that seems to've become a place to speak about me in a spitefully critical manner. I really don't give a flying duck when people malign me and rather find it humorous--Isaacsirup (talk) 14:22, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't care if anybody else cares or not and not interested in knowing which film interests others. You have been avoiding answering this question since beginning and has wasted everybody's time. If you had watched the posted clips and link in the beginning, this would not have happened. Also, nobody here has time till you see the film and come back with the answer as you are not the entitled to do. There is no point in shouting for admins and other editors for anything and everything. You behavior here and elsewhere has helped you for what you call "spitefully critical manner" and "humorous"! - Vivvt (Talk) 21:12, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Vivvt, all the talk about Jiah in Dil se started after she died. And so does all the references put forwarded by issaccsrup. Probably we should try to find if there is any discussion/reference about it before she died or try to find the very first news source from where it started (after her death)? Was her name in IMDb Dil Se page before she died?--Vigyanitalkਯੋਗਦਾਨ 01:19, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@Vigyani: Vivvt, me, you or anyone cannot search for something that does not exist. Isaac should do that hunting of references dated before her death. Or else the best way is to show us in a video where she is seen. Till then her name stays out of this article and also her bio article at Jiah Khan will not mention Dil Se.... §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 06:44, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
In that case let us restore Priya Parulekar as in the version before this mess.--Vigyanitalkਯੋਗਦਾਨ 10:52, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@Vigyani: Lets not do it that way. Lets put down the support and/or oppose for both the actors which would help us get the "consensus". - Vivvt (Talk) 12:00, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Jiah Khan
Priya Parulekar

  • I think we have enough comments/votes for the consensus in favor of Parulekar. As far as sources of she playing young Meghna is concerned, the film itself is a source in itself. The first link provides enough evidence thru Koirala's narration of the scene. - Vivvt (Talk) 16:05, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
