Major Overhaul

[edit]

I am in the process of copyediting this article. In this particular case, that's involving the removal of a lot of information that I would consider unencyclopedic and cumbersome. The article was heavily padded with specific information about cheat codes and unlockables for the game, for example.

If any editors disagree with my decision to remove the information, please feel free to open discussion with me here. As long as the content seems to belong in the article, I won't argue with its inclusion. Of course, most of it will need to be reworded quite a bit.

I will update this section with a diff displaying the changes I've made when I'm finished. --Moralis 20:11, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Behold, diff. I'm all done. Article needs fleshing out by someone with knowledge of the series, but it's been copyedited.--Moralis 21:00, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, thanks a lot for that. This article needed a rewrite badly and I really like how you did it. — Mütze 13:28, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Better Screenshot

[edit]

I changed the screenshot for CMR 2.0 to one I captured myself, the previous one had the gamespot logo on it I think, anyway the textures look much better now.

Fair use rationale for Image:DiRT racing.jpg

[edit]

Image:DiRT racing.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

CMR 1 Car List

[edit]

I listed all the cars in CMR 1 yesterday but someone has removed them, can i ask why? Xp132476 07:28, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, that was me. Car lists (or weapon lists, enemy lists etc.) are generally seen as unnecessary unless there's something particularly notable about the cars in the context of the game itself, which is very rarely the case (for example in this case you would expect the game to include these cars, so they're not notable enough to justify listing them). If any of the cars need to be mentioned, then it should be done in the text of the article rather than as a list. It's generally enough to say something like "the game contains official teams and cars from the WRC". It really all comes down to anything that doesn't add to the understanding of the article, or that could be seen as game-guide material, being frowned on for an encyclopedia article, just as we don't list cheats or strategies. In fact, the whole of this article needs some sprucing up in that regard. Cheers, Miremare 17:33, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for clearing that up. I did not know that and so if i had, i would have posted a car list...sorry. Xp132476 06:52, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Title Change

[edit]

Because the no longer use Colin McRae in further titles, why not rename from "Colin McRae Rally" to "DIRT (series)" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.57.35.66 (talkcontribs) 05:34, 3 August 2012‎

There are eight title with the Colin McRae prefix and only two without. Changing the series name now, because of the recent decision would smack of WP:RECENTISM. - X201 (talk) 07:43, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pointless console data

[edit]

There's no reason to have separate columns for each "generation" of console. None of them overlap anyway. One console column is enough. 75.170.60.176 (talk) 04:15, 11 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
