Grammar Suggestions

[edit]

The first paragraph of the Origins section needs major clarification. The grammar is incorrect but I personally do not know enough about the topic to edit it myself. Grammarpolice119 (talk) 20:36, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

– Effectively from 1 June 2024, Disney Junior officially shortened its name as "DJr.", or in full name as "Disney Jr." in writing form, while still kept the former name in spoken form. So, we need to move these two pages to conformed with the new name. Alternatively, we could retitle the article name as DJr. with Disney Jr. as a redirect page. The new logo has already appeared at their social media pages.

Support because Disney Junior is an old name. 2603:7000:B800:3400:A40D:D1C4:2726:5A2E (talk) 15:32, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per WP:NAMECHANGES. Additionally, one another source already confirmed its rebranding (from TVLaint). So, unless there's otherwise proof that overwrite this source (as well as their official social media accounts carrying new Disney Jr. logo), no one could escape the rebranding as it already happened at 6am EST (for example having a Oppose arguments with unreasonable proof). We may still called "Disney Junior" in spoken form, but in writing form its "Disney Jr." (like Nick Jr. which referred as "Nick Junior" in spoken form). 2404:8000:1037:469:A9A7:4D3F:1051:4026 (talk) 23:52, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Nothing has changed except a brand shortening only applicable to an on-screen bug, mobile logos and social media avatars; it's still said Disney Junior and the most that needs to be inserted here is 'also known in marketing as Disney Jr.' in the lede and a source in the history saying 'on June 1st...its current logo now features only its abbreviation rather than its full name'. And this move was a nightmare that required named and auto-confirmed editors; there should be no reason for an IP to ever get involved; sign up for an account if you want to move pages and use our processes correctly. And as mentioned in the below discussion, a Latin American source in Spanish drafting off a tweet is by far non-applicable to an American network in English (don't even bring up the SAP here). • Comment As of now, there's still no real source for the renaming outside of common Disney press releases just shortening the name, and I continue to be disappointed that the move was attempted without any sourcing. We're not under any deadline at all and nobody outside a very niche animation community watching programs not intended for them feels like they have to 'correct' this information about a network that about 60% of the country has lost access to without a peep (because it's all moved to Disney+ and most are generally not affected). • Support move to Disney Jr., oppose move to DJr.: Irrespective of all the IP shenaniganery regarding the page being moved by someone who shouldn't be doing such things; Moving the page to Disney Jr. does indeed make sense given it's how the name is written now. That said, I'm not entirely certain why there's so much fuss over "oh, it's written Disney Jr. but it's still spoken as Disney Junior"... that's... how "Jr." is pronounced, isn't it?? (The opposition to DJr. is because... I'll be honest, "DJr." is more of a logo than a name, it's like saying the name of Facebook can be shortened to just 🇫.)
That said, some better sources would be apropos-- "No one could escape the rebranding" et cetera is pretty much tantamount to original research and/or an attempt to use primary sources-- but I do expect SOMEONE to cover the swap (in English and without lifting words off Twitter) at SOME point. • Support. Let's be realistic, this kind of uncontroversial, simple name change isn't going to be a case where the common name doesn't shift with it. Strictly speaking, I guess it could be argued we should wait another month to confirm, but the odds that everyone refuses to use the new name is like 0.01%, so just move it now per WP:NOTBURO. SnowFire (talk) 17:27, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support for renaming to Disney Jr. A rebrand is a rebrand, and this rebrand clearly says "Disney Jr." and not "Disney Junior." Plus, it's all over Disney Jr's socials now, so it's sort of reasonable to change it, right? Oppose for DJr. Wikipedia should usually use full names. The article about the CIA ((The) Central Intelligence Agency) is not titled "CIA", that's a redirect. WOndering-FLowers (talk) 06:52, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
