Err, how do you say copycat?
[edit]This article has a great portion of it just copy-pasted from the Dictionary of Canadian Biography Online : http://www.biographi.ca/009004-119.01-e.php?BioId=34124&PHPSESSID=65mr16rehjpre5pliifvsf9333&PHPSESSID=65mr16rehjpre5pliifvsf9333
I think this should be pointed out in a label.--Niptium (talk) 23:02, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
I want serious changes to this.
[edit]Two major problems with this article is that is inflates the claims of Acadia by the Dutch. They attacked two forts, not "several". They literally stayed there for a little while and then were forced to leave when the french came to attack because they knew they couldn't defend it. It did not last 4 years as it seems to indicate in the heading (1674–1678). It was a paper claim at best that was formally given up in 1678. This article seems to project that the Dutch swept in, exercised control for 4 years and only gave it up after a treaty. They never even defended the forts they had and the ones they were able to capture were none of the major forts in Acadia, but rather small outposts.
I believe this should be merged into the greater article regarding Dutch in Americas.

- Oh, you'll get no argument from me; you'll see from the talk archives that I've advocated exactly this course of action in the past. I still believe that the primary article on the topic should be Jurriaen Aernoutsz, the military commander who actually spearheaded the incursion; some additional mention in a general Dutch in the Americas article (whatever its title is; I don't know) would also be appropriate. But we don't need this article in addition to those. Bearcat (talk) 23:56, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
I intend to rename or delete this article.
[edit]This is too similar as the article regarding Jurriaen Aernoutsz. This article also claims that the Dutch occupied Acadia, which was is not true. They took over a few towns and two forts and then left when they were attacked. This was only a small section on the remote outskits of the colony of Acadia and does not constitute an occupation. I have been cleaning up other articles that make the same claim.-Kirkoconnell (talk) 12:05, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
