This page should not be speedily deleted because... (your reason here) --Nvrk (talk) 03:06, 4 June 2013 (UTC) This article is not advertising the products/services present at El Mercado. It is explaining the cultural importance of this site using an analytics of cultural studies. This site is a swap meet with many decentralized vendors. A list of vendors itself is not included. The emphasis is on the cultural impact of El Mercado, not why one should shop at this site. This site is a culturally significant site for many marginalized peoples in Los Angeles. This aspect of an informal economy is intertwined with economics but is much bigger than economics itself. Reading deeply into the text of this article shows that the mercado is a site that goes beyond economics.[reply]

It is for these reasons that I request that the page be allowed to be edited further instead of speedily deleted. We have referenced scholarly journals and academic writings several times in this article (only referring to the mercado's website for practical information about organization of the mercado). I would be happy to elaborate on the scholarly sources present here, if given the time and space to do so. Thank you.

This article gave me a headache

"Deterritorialization," "economic agency," "affirmations of belonging," and "semiotic meaning-making"? I've got a pretty high tolerance for convoluted explanations, but this article is ridiculous. 2601:192:4B40:73ED:CD2F:8758:845A:CEB4 (talk) 18:11, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
