Bohemians versus Bohemians?

[edit]

Can somebody with a bit of insight in Czech football please explain in the article the "Bohemians dilemma" (Bohemians 1905 versus Bohemians Praha (Střížkov)) of having two clubs with the same name? EA210269 (talk) 00:42, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see that this article is being vandalized lately by the Bohemians 1905 fans. There is a complicated history which is not easy to explain, but I try. In 2005 the original club with quite a famous history (FC Bohemians Praha) got into large financial trouble. Therefore a lot of things happened which are now under several prosecutions and czech courts will surely handle them for many years. Anyway in that time the original club went into bankrupt. Fans together with some people from the management of the original club created a new club called AFK Vrsovice, collected some amount of money among themeselves and all the players from FC Bohemians were moved to this club which was later renamed to Bohemians 1905. The football association of Czech Republic have no problem with this - but this is also a part of this prosecution, because some people say that all of this was done against the rules of the association and against the law of Czech Rep. In the mean time, a completely different club (until then called Strizkov) bought from TJ Bohemians (company which among other handles the rights for using the logo and the name Bohemians) rights for using the name Bohemians and renamed the club to FK Bohemians Praha (different from the original FC Bohemians). Note that the original FC Bohemians (bankrupted) still exists although is not playing in any football division in Czech Rep. So in fact there are three clubs with the name Bohemians now. The original one which is in bankrupt, but is involved in many prosecutions, not playing any division. Then the "1905" one with huge support of fans (vandalizing this article) and the "FK Bohemians" one which bought the right of using the name. As I said, the problem is much more complicated, lots of persons are playing a big role in this dilemma and I suppose noone is able to fully understand all things what happened back in 2005 after the original club bankrupted.--Quelhar (talk) 21:29, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

even more confusing are bohemians fc(czech) vs. Bohemians fc(ireland)--Mjfan1 (talk) 19:09, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
