Renaming

[edit]

How about renaming it to F.C. Lyn Oslo, without the space between the F and the C? The current name looks really weird. --Angelo 01:14, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, however, it would have to be done by an administrator as the target page is currently a redirect to this page. __meco 06:26, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

FK LynLyn FotballThis has been discussed earlier on WikiProject Norway, and the discussion can be read here, and as Geschichte stated in that discussion: "FK Lyn was not a club, but was the elite football branch of the multi-sports club SFK Lyn. FK Lyn does not exist anymore. Lyn Fotball is not a club either, but co-existed with FK Lyn as the "low-key" football branch of SFK Lyn, but since mid-2010 it is the only football branch of SFK Lyn. Lyn Fotball does field a men's senior team in the Third Division, following promotion from the Fourth Division in 2011."

FK Lyn was the top-level football section of SFK Lyn, but bankrupted in 2010. The fans and some of the players instead adopted the amateur section of SFK Lyn, called Lyn Fotball, and this season Lyn Fotball became notable as they play in the 2012 Norwegian Third Division and will meet Vålerenga Fotball in 2012 Norwegian Football Cup. So what should be done with the articles? Both having two different articles about this subject (FK Lyn and Lyn Fotball), or moving this article to Lyn Fotball is kind of misleading.

I don't want a vote, I want a discussion on what to do, and maybe we can reach a consensus as this probably be the last time this happens. Nevertheless, a Support would mean that we have one single article about Lyn's football sections and move this article to Lyn Fotball while a Oppose would mean that we revertmost changes in FK Lyn for the last year regarding the amateur team and create another article called Lyn Fotball. • Comment - Even though I've opened a RM, I don't necessary want the article to be renamed, I want a discussion and hopefully a consensus. If no consensus is reached, I will create an own article for Lyn Fotball and make FK Lyn's article look like in 2010. Mentoz86 (talk) 12:43, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • A move could be ok as long as the article's historical section on the FC Lyn Oslo/FK Lyn (the same thing) period makes it clear that Lyn Fotball co-existed as a "bredde" department alongside the elite section FK Lyn. Geschichte (talk) 15:36, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, since the former professional club ceased to operate. There is currently only one football club named Lyn – no need for two separate articles. Kosm1fent 18:02, 27 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
