Rename[edit]

I think it is more appropriate if we rename this article "2016 Groundhog Day North American blizzard", as today is Groundhog Day, and this storm is projected to impact Canada as well tomorrow. Feedback? --MarioProtIV (talk) 13:32, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Neutral on "United States"/"North America"|Oppose Groundhog Day - While the United States is a part of North America, Groundhog Day may not be a holiday that is recognized around the entire world where this encyclopedia is used, whereas the Gregorian calendar is. --Jax 0677 (talk) 14:12, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I can think of other storms that use the name "Groundhog" in them. If the WP:COMMONNAME is groundhog then we should use it, wiki-links are there for those who don't know what Groundhog Day is. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 14:22, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
How about February 2016 North American blizzard — Preceding unsigned comment added by MarioProtIV (talkcontribs) 19:46, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Another storm complex?[edit]

It would seem that the February 2016 United States blizzard (aka the February 2016 North American blizzard and, unofficially, "Winter Storm Kayla") is turning into not only the third major blizzard of the season but the second North American storm complex of the season with the current Tornado Outbreak and severe storm east of the blizzard. It is too soon to tell, but if there is a need for a name change, we may need to be February 2016 North American Storm Complex (and NOT any of the above names. P.S. NO WEATHER CHANNEL NAMES - at least not yet).--Halls4521 (talk) 21:48, 2 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Knowledgekid87 and Cyclonebiskit: I left a note to Cyclonebiskit about me mistakenly CSD-ing the wrong redirect, which resulted in it being changed to "winter storm." I'll ask the same thing here; should this be changed back to "storm complex" or is "winter storm" fine? United States Man (talk) 03:48, 27 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have no preference here on that so am fine with whatever consensus may be. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 03:49, 27 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'll see what Cyclonebiskit thinks. I really have no preference on the matter either. United States Man (talk) 03:51, 27 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Knowledgekid87 and United States Man: It depends on what the most notable aspect of the system was: winter or severe weather. Off-hand it appears that the winter side was more notable so that gives weight to the "winter storm" title, but I honestly don't have a preference either. I'll move it back to the original title if requested. ~ Cyclonebiskit (chat) 04:22, 27 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
