[edit]

The assaination of Roger Louis Schutz-Marsauche should be placed not only to recent death but to in the news!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear it all the times in the news nearly at the beginning of the news!

Stone 12:32 15 August 2005

So, did she stab him in the back or cut his throath? Conflicting reports on the Taizé community article and the Roger article. Or did she do both? And do we know more about her?

Cluny or Taizé ?

[edit]
  • The official news release said he was killed during Evening prayers, which are always held at the chapel in Taizé. Cluny is a close town, but not the same as Taizé. It should definitely be Taizé. shaile 17:28, 17 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • It was in the Church within the Taize Community. The closest larger town is Cluny
  • I have added a few dates and corrected a few mistakes. I also tried to give more precision to Brother Roger's ecumenical ideals using recent texts that can be found on the Taizé community's web site (www.taize.fr). An earlier version which contained a stament by Navarro-Valls was based on a faulty translation of his text. mediacty 2 October 2006

paranoia

[edit]

Is it confirmed that the killer was paranoid or hade a mental disorder?

Is it only a rumor or a confirmed fact?

Why does her name give no google hits?

--Striver 16:38, 18 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The Killer did indeed have a disorder, and had been asked to leave a few days earlier, and had complied. She was not lucid, although capable of functioning.

--Wslack 22:19, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why did she have a knife with her? --Striver 16:48, 18 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Paranoia Here is a source or schizophrenia ? She had said that she wanted to protect Brother Roger from a masonic plot for instance...

Romanian character

[edit]

If you read the article on the Romanian language, you will see that t-with-cedilla is an incorrect replacement for the character t-with-comma. – Kaihsu 15:33, September 6, 2005 (UTC)

Not really. If it were, pedagogic works would use the t-with-cedilla form exclusively, which they don't. The presence of books printed to teach children to write that use both forms make the distinction questionable pedantry. In any case, the Wikipedia article on his killer uses the t-with-cedilla and it is more commonly supported on computers.--Prosfilaes 09:04, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merger

[edit]

The Taize Community lacks a lot of information and this article is very similar. Perhaps this article should be merged with it seeing that Taize and Frere Roger are famous for the same reason. If not this article, then perhaps the article about Taize itself.71.243.164.231 23:30, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Frère RogerBrother Roger – Per the MOS, the title should be the most commonly used form in the English-language sources. As seen in the references, that would be Brother Roger. Daniel the Monk (talk) 21:44, 18 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. All English sources in article agree on this usage. Elizium23 (talk) 22:15, 18 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Mild support - It's clear that "Frère Roger" is less used in English Google Books ["frere roger" taize founder] = 63 , ["brother roger" taize founder] = 850. It's also clear that the Economist and NY Times obituaries used "Brother Roger". I'm not 100% convinced of the naturalness and recognizability criteria though, despite laudable internationalism the Taizé Community was/is still very French. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:27, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Daniel, Yes but that wasn't my point, if anything the opposite, since we see the actual Taizé Community wanting to be international (very laudable) and using "brother," but third party sources being more prone to see them as French and use "Frère." No I mean that we'll be giving a French (or French Swiss) bio an anglo or international feel. But anyway, that's clearly what brother Roger would have wanted and it is justifiable from 90% of sources. In ictu oculi (talk) 15:31, 19 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
