Wording Throughout the Article

[edit]

Upon reading the article, one will see the words "fatally shot" when referencing the child, Trayvon Martin; the most notable example in the intro as seen in "George Michael Zimmerman (born October 5, 1983) is an American who fatally shot Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida, on February 26, 2012." The proper phrasing should be, "George Michael Zimmerman (born October 5, 1983) is an American who murdered 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida, on February 26, 2012." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rhea1812 (talkcontribs) 21:39, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Was he convicted of murder? He was acquitted. We strive for technical accuracy vs. how we feel. -- GreenC 02:08, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Gun auction proceeds

[edit]

Is there any source clarifying that Zimmerman did actually donate some of his gun's money? I can't find anything.

George Zimmerman Emerged From Hiding for Truck Crash Rescue.

[edit]

Are we allowed to add a section about George's rescue or is this a hate-fest only zone? What if we use HuffPo as a source? 2600:1000:BE02:10E3:4CA9:C724:85CF:1A3C (talk) 01:03, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Change race description.

[edit]

Why is George Zimmerman being called an American and Trayvon being called “black boy” he was an American as well. He was a Black American! The people in this world is so racist it’s disgusting! 2601:152:C00:1D80:246D:B65A:4473:8E55 (talk) 06:29, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Inflammatory language in infobox

[edit]

The infobox contains the description, "Type: Murder by shooting".The linked article for the word murder begins as follows: "Murder is the unlawful killing of another human without justification or valid excuse, especially the unlawful killing of another human with malice aforethought"

Zimmerman was acquitted of murder. His actions were determined by a jury not to have been unlawful. The description in the infobox inaccurate and should be corrected. Jguttenburg (talk) 08:14, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What are you talking about? The infobox doesn't say that. -- GreenC 14:51, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
My mistake, I confused the infobox here with one on another article. Jguttenburg (talk) 07:41, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
