Great Bend Army AirfieldGreat Bend Army Air Field – Correct name for US Army Air Forces fields named for locations during World War II was Army Air Field (abbreviated AAF or AAFld), contrary to current US Army practice of naming as Army Airfield. Construction of the air base at Great Bend, Kansas.

My father Maurice “Cobb” Miller supplied Mobilgas (brand) fuel for the construction of the airbase, starting in 1942. I was his son and was 8 years old at the time. He had 2 tank trucks working daily to make sure the runways would be ready for the B29 Super forces, which were being made in Wichita, Kansas. 2600:1700:3E44:800:7DF1:86CC:C333:89D1 (talk) 21:48, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
