Possible move to "Greek Euro referendum 2011"?[edit]

Papandreou apparently backled under pressure at the G20 and said today that the referendum will be on whether or not Greeks want the Euro [1]. I think that the article should be moved to Greek Euro referendum, 2011 to reflect this, but I would suggest that we wait until any definite plans have been made for when the referendum will take place and what the final question will be. Thoughts? --Philly boy92 (talk) 09:24, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

nominate this article for deletion?[edit]

Latest reports are that referendum idea has now been scrapped. I suggest that this reduces this article to non-notable status. An referendum that might have been, for what, 48 hours? Not notable enough for a stand-alone article.--Brian Dell (talk) 16:27, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I also agree, and think it should be merged in the Background section of Greek legislative election, 2011, if not deleted. Heracletus (talk) 17:15, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I also concur. Probably worth prodding it and letting it go. Number 57 17:58, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I agree as well. It should be merged with Next Greek legislative election, in the background section. However, I would suggest waiting for a couple of days, Papandreou said the referendum would be scrapped if the opposition votes in favor. Lets see how this goes over the course of the next day or two. --Philly boy92 (talk) 18:05, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There is absolutely no reason for keeping an article about a referendum that has been announced for two days and then cancelled. --RJFF (talk) 23:05, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm normally in favour of keeping even articles on cancelled elections, but this really should be merged into the election article. —Nightstallion 12:28, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
per nightstallion a canceled election can be notable, but a merge would be good too. and as such ive commented on the merge fiscussion from the link on the page. as it turns out an election will be happenning in the early months of 2012
Also we shuold redirect this to legislative election 2012 and delete legis election 2011 as not true. BUT wait till monday or so as a new govt should form on the condition of callign new elections early in 2012.Lihaas (talk) 17:45, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There is no article named "Greek legislative election, 2011", just Next Greek legislative election. --Philly boy92 (talk) 20:01, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
umm, see the bluelink above.Lihaas (talk) 21:39, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Its a redirect link to Next Greek legislative election? --Philly boy92 (talk) 23:16, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
yep, and we can delete that as its not true.Lihaas (talk) 06:04, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I juste deleted it on wp:fr : it never happened; a paragraph in the biography of Papandreou would be enough. --O Kolymbitès (talk) 14:32, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Greek economy referendumAbortive Greek economy referendum – or some other title, that more clearly indicates that the referendum was never held. eh bien mon prince (talk) 08:26, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry but I think this is a bit ridiculous. The article makes it clear that the referendum was not held, I fail to see why this needs to be expressed in the title. It's like saying we should move Apollo 13 to Abortive Apollo 13 because it didn't actually land on the moon. Also, abortive would indicate that the referendum was held and the result was a "no" to the Euro. If we were to move it (it's a firm no from me), the word more appropriate in my view would be aborted. --Philly boy92 (talk) 11:09, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Apollo 13 was an actual, though failed, space mission. In this case there was no referendum, not even a 'failed' one. The better comparison would be the canceled Apollo missions, and as you can see, an article does exist under that name. Considering that you made the Apollo argument, I would expect you to reconsider your 'firm no', if only for the sake of coherence.--eh bien mon prince (talk) 15:12, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
