Name

Does Hải Dương mean "ocean sun" or "sunny ocean"? Why does it have "ocean" in the name if the province does not touch the ocean? Badagnani 08:21, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

History of Hai Duong province

Hai Duong was extabilished from the Stone Age. Hai Duong was one of four provinces surrounding Thang Long citadel in former times. The name Hai Duong which means “ the ligh illuminated from coastal area”. When was set up, Hai Duong was a large provine, included Binh Giang district to Thuy Nguyen district. In 905, Khuc Thua Du, of Cuc Bo village (Ninh Giang district) led the peple to gained national independence. In the 13rd century, Hai Duong’s peple struggled to against Nguyen Mong. In 1831, Hai Duong province was officially found ( then called East Province). In the early 20th century, the patriotic movement was raised in Hai Duong. Since 1930, under the Party’s leadership, Hai Duong people as well as the whole country carried out two resistance wars against French imperial and American emperor and won victories. In 1968 Hai Duong Province joined with Hưng Yen province to become Hai Hung provine. In January 1997, Hai Hung was separated in to Hai Duong and Hung Yen. In August 1997, The Government decided to upgrade Hai Duong from town to city. Since 1997, there has been 11 districts in Hai Duong namely Gia Loc, Tu Ky, Ninh Giang, Thanh Mien, Cam Giang, Binh Giang, Nam Sach, Thanh Ha, Kim Thanh, Kim Mon, Chi Linh and Hai Duong city ./. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chivn83 (talkcontribs) 07:57, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
