Haakon III of Norway: Why not rename the name of the article to the proper one, Håkon? The use of double aa for å was in use in Norway in the 1800s and in the beginning of 1900s and there is only one (1) Norwegian king that is spelled Haakon and that is king Haakon the 7th. I really hate to see the double aa. --FinnBjo 01:17, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mother ?

[edit]

How is the "existence" of Haakon III's mother disputed ? The identity of his mother may be in some doubt, but her existence is surely not in doubt. He was not given birth to by his father, nor was he delivered by a stork or found in a cabbage patch.Eregli bob (talk) 18:47, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Haakon III of NorwayHaakon III – There are no other monarchs with this exact name and numeral. Векочел (talk) 20:32, 21 May 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. BilledMammal (talk) 03:59, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Support alternative move to Haakon Sverresson for more consistency in names of older Scandinavian monarchs. Killuminator (talk) 14:55, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support because NCROY, PRECISION (unnecessary disambiguation), CONCISION, COMMONNAME, … —В²C 04:15, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support per nom and B2C. The alternative suggestion by Killuminator is not bad either, the patronymic seems to be roughly as common as the numeral in reliable sources (this is only based on a quick analysis Ngrams and GBooks searches). However, Haakon III is more concise and consistency favors the numeral if one compares to Haakon II and Haakon IV (the choice of whom to compare with is somewhat arbitrary). Support per nom. I slightly prefer Killuminator's alternative suggestion, as it would appear more common based on ngrams [1]. However, I am fine with either proposal. estar8806 (talk) 01:22, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
