[edit]All sources inform us that these Chaks were men of immense physical strength coupled with Guts. They were Dards most likely from Gurez who had converted from Hinduism mainly to the Shia sect of Islam. The Shina speaking people of Gurez even today are pure Aryans with a powerful built.
Indeed Yusuf Shah Chak was from a family recently converted to Islam. His family members during that period were Shankar Chak, Lankar Chak and Pandu Chak. Yusuf defeated (even though Kashmir had a tiny population) the mighty Mughal Akbar soundly, however, Akbar by deceit took over Kashmir. The General of Akbar the great Rajput Raja Bhagwandass felt he had betrayed Yusuf Chak after negotiating a peace with the latter and thus attempted suicide. This is the genuine history of that period.
