Clean up needed
[edit]This article really needs clean up and improvements. If you do have access to sources (in German or English) please do add info to this article! --Karljoos (talk) 01:03, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
- Also more objectivity is needed. Example: "The Master class studies are an extraordinary artistic training on a very high level" is unnaceptable in an encyclopedic article. I suggest to shape the article on imagen of other leading conservatoires such as Royal Academy of Music, Juilliard School or Curtis Institute, including the following sections:
- History
- Facilities
- Present and former faculty
- Alumni
- I will start to work as soon as I find a good source. If someone could guide me to find it, it would be great! Thank you --Karljoos (talk) 19:40, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Hochschule für Musik "Carl Maria von Weber" → "Carl Maria von Weber" College of Music — to use the English-language name listed in the article, per WP:COMMONNAME. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 02:27, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
- Any evidence for this name? — AjaxSmack 03:15, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
- The problem is that the translation of "Hochschule" is "High School"... that's not the same kind of institution in English. Some people have translated "Hochschule" as "University". College of Music would be something closer to Hochschule (Usually in Musikhochschules there's no research). I think it is best to leave it as it is (Hochschule für Musik "CMvW"). If the name has to changed per WP:COMMONNAME, I'd go for college. --Karljoos (talk) 13:00, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose The English version of their home page uses the German. This, or something like it, may be the English name, but evidence needs to be produced that it is more commonly used in English than the original. There is probably a stronger case for Dresden Conservatory; it has only had the current name for the last 5 minutes. Plenty of foreign academic institutions are better known by their local name. - Oppose... I don't know what the wikipedia guidelines says (I leave that to the bureaucrats), but I think it's better to leave the original as that's how these institutions are better known.--Karljoos (talk) 21:22, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose - I prefer the original name as more authentic. Hochschule is closer to Academy than to High School - but something gets lost in translation. (Sometime ago I moved Folkwang Academy to Folkwang Hochschule, which was then the name even on its English website, - now (as of 2010) it's Folkwang University) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:54, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Hochschule für Musik "Carl Maria von Weber" → Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber – I can find nothing that suggests this school has quotation marks in its name, either in English or German. The school's website doesn't use them, nor does the German Wikipedia entry on the school. I have no problem using the German name of the school, but let's use traditional syntax on it.--Mike Selinker (talk) 10:07, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- Support. I guess this is the modern style. The school used to use them: Die Hochschule für Musik "Carl Maria von Weber" Dresden at the Wayback Machine (archived January 24, 2001(Timestamp length)). But no more. – Fayenatic L (talk) 12:50, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
