Hello TAWX14, I will be reviewing Rafael, under the condition that you do not yell. TheAustinMan(Talk·Works) 21:47, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
Toolbox Checks
[edit]- No issues reported. Good job! Though Peer Reviewer indicates you have only two images. Maybe you should try adding more. TheAustinMan(Talk·Works) 22:12, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
Lead
[edit]- You should link tropical wave. Is it an oceanic wave? Link.
- "...it skipped tropical depression status..." I'm fine with skipped, but it sort of sounds funny. If there's any alternative, then you can change it.
- I think it's fine as is. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 23:12, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
- "...a subsequent decrease..." Decrease of what. And you should probably use 'a subsequent weakening...'
- I already state what in the first part of the sentence. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 23:12, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
- "...to develop in earnest..." Not sure if that is a correct usage, is it?
- Why wouldn't it be? TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 23:12, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
- Link sea surface temperature.
- "As much as a foot of rain fell..." Needs metric conversion.
- Does it? I did not use an exact total, so I don't think so. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 23:12, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
- Link Bermuda.
- Link Nova Scotia.
- "...but overall, damage to both locations was minimal." Which two? I see four locations in the second paragraph. TheAustinMan(Talk·Works) 22:12, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
- Was speaking mainly about Newfoundland... Done. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 23:12, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
Meteorological history
[edit]- "National Hurricane Center (NHC)" I would exclude the abbreviation from the link
- No. It's always a part of. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 23:12, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
- "As Rafael moved northward, it continued to intensify rapidly in spite of weak wind shear." Is the occurrence weak wind shear prohibitive to the intensification of tropical cyclones? A publication indicates low wind shear is necessary for rapid intensification anyways.
- Should've been moderate. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 23:12, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
- "a Category 1..." Category 1 what. TheAustinMan(Talk·Works) 22:12, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
Preparations and impact
[edit]Caribbean islands
[edit]- Link watch and warning terms
- "By the morning hours of October 9, the warnings were discontinued for Saint Lucia and Martinique..." October 9 is before Rafael developed into a tropical storm. Did you mean that?
- Link Federal Emergency Management Agency, and since you've been adding abbreviations to organizations, add FEMA.
- Link Météo-France.
- "...most businesses closed..." → "...most businesses were closed...*
- "A few people attempted to drive through flooded roads and required rescue; however, there were no reports of injuries or fatalities." I thought the one fatality associated with Rafael was the result of an attempted drive-thru of a flooded road. TheAustinMan(Talk·Works) 22:12, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
- Err...right. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 23:12, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
Bermuda
[edit]- "the main two airports on Bermuda—WestJet and United Airlines—cancelled hundreds of flights on October 16." Are those airports or airlines? TheAustinMan(Talk·Works) 22:12, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
- Airlines. Fixed. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 23:12, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
Newfoundland
[edit]- Canadian Dollars are officially abbreviated as C$, not CA$. TheAustinMan(Talk·Works) 22:12, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
Since these were the only problems I identified, I will pass this GAN once you have fixed the aforementioned qualms. TheAustinMan(Talk·Works) 22:12, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the review. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 23:12, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
