Merge
[edit]I am against the proposed merge of articles suggested it would cause a loss of information in many cases and an overloading of the main page. Notably a similar set of proposals was made by an anonymous user to disrupt the Portsmouth page and those of its schools information is here and also here -- Drappel 21:35, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Relevance/Merit of the Valley?
[edit]I don't have much recorded evidence for this, but anecdotally, Bevois Valley is just a road and an industrial park; there's little else there besides residences and pubs.
Perhaps the article should be renamed [Bevois], [Bevois, Southamtpon] or [Bevois (suburb)], and its scope widened to cover the districts of Bevois Mount, Bevois Valley and Bevois Town: the three Bevois 'suburbs'. They'd be considerably more content worth including then: Bevois Mount includes Lodge Road, several places of worship, a school and noteworthy pubs and shops; and Bevois Town is an uninteresting but picturesque (in places) area of terraced houses, which includes the Bevois Town and Bevois Castle pubs.
Again, no evidence here, but I would imagine there is/was some sort of 'Bevois Parish', which could be a basis for researching a more in depth article. For these names and locations, search for 'SU 4250 1345' here. smiler (talk) 15:41, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
- According to this, there are no parishes in Southampton. Does that mean there never were though? smiler (talk) 15:42, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
- There certainly were parishes, and the are currently wards, one of which is Bevois, which also includes Nicholstown and Northam. I'd argue that the Bevois area (whether it's called Bevois Town or Bevois Valley) is distinct from those two suburbs. In my mind Bevois Town and Bevois Valley are just different terms for the same general area but I may be wrong. As ever, adequate referencing to reliable sources is the key. - Best I can tell the old parish that covers this area would have been Newtown.©Geni (talk) 22:24, 4 April 2017 (UTC)

Proposed merge with Inner Avenue, Southampton
[edit]"Inner Avenue" isn't a true settlement in its own right and isn't notable. It's just a term estate agents use to avoid using "Bevois Valley" or "Bevois Town" as they think it sounds more appealing. WaggersTALK 10:50, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
