I have flagged the section "In the 1950s it was a red light area with a pornography cinema (now the independent Phoenix Cinema)" as requiring a citation. My recollection of the Cinema in 1957 - 1963 was that it showed classic arty films. I recall seeing most of the films of Ingmar Bergman, for example. There was a red light area. This all needs references. --Bduke 04:51, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are correct. The porn cinema ran in the 1970s. I have corrected this.--Pstalker (talk) 16:12, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jericho's time as a red light district was a little longer lived than the 1950's. I know a Vice Squad Officer with the Oxford Division of Thames Valley Police in the 1970's and 1980's. In short Thames Valley Police were still patrolling Jericho as a red light district into the early 1980's. I first moved to Oxford in 1998. At that time I spoke to several Oxford residents whom described Jericho's seedier side as only starting to change during the first half of the 1980's. 80.42.198.78 (talk) 00:19, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
