Jessica DiCicco

[edit]

I suggest moving this article to Jessica DiCicco, because she is mostly credited that way, like in; The Buzz on Maggie, The Emperor's New School, The Mighty B!, Loonatics Unleashed, and Secrets of the Furious Five. Also, official her website and SBV (her voice talent agency) credit her as Jessica DiCicco. ραncακemisτακe (talk) 10:57, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Priscilla?

[edit]

Does she play Priscilla (the female skunk) on Sheriff Callie's Wild West? Doesn't say who voices who in the credits of said show, but Priscilla in fact sounds like she is Jessica DiCicco. I know for a fact that she is Toby (cactus) and Clementine (non-anthropomorphic mule), but is she Priscilla? I could be wrong but can someone prove this? 67.85.241.84 (talk) 20:51, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind: Cree Summer does Priscila. 67.85.241.84 (talk) 00:34, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hissy?

[edit]

She played Hissy from Puppy Dog Pals, And sounds like Hanazuki, Fuli, and Maggie Pesky Alike. Snuggleblanket (talk) 19:42, 14 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

birthday verification

[edit]

Tenebrae, In order to use the California Birth Index records (which Familysearch.org uses) to pinpoint her birthday and middle name, can you provide reliable sources that show that her mother is Margo Malkin? Absolutenow is not a reliable source. ABC Media Net doesn't list the mother. I'm sure there must be some news article that confirms this, but I don't see anything at the moment to keep that visible. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:57, 20 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

AngusWOOF You make a good point, that there might be two different people named Jessica DiCicco born in Los Angeles in the same timeframe. In this case, because CaliforniaBirthIndex (which is a WP:SECONDARY source using public-record WP:PRIMARY and so RS) establishes a sister named Kate, and we have a cited interview with Kate confirming Jessica is her sister, that seems to verify the connection. --Tenebrae (talk) 22:20, 20 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Tenebrae, her Newhouse alum interviews (posted above in refideas), said she was nine when she filmed for Godfather Part 3 (film released December 1990) and fifteen when she did the New Yorker photography (article published December 1996). This kind of implies she was born in 1981 instead of 1980 but it's also possible she did those projects prior to her June birthday. Also her sister Kate is younger than she is so I moved that part over to the personal life section. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:24, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, the Kate and Allie episode was broadcast in April 1989 IMDb so she might have had those ages swapped around. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:33, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The California Birth Index source was removed given the disclaimers about the accuracy of the data. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 23:43, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I spent a lot of time off Wikipedia earlier this year, and I'm only seeing this now. What disclaimers are you referring to? Do you have a link to them? I see none at https://www.californiabirthindex.org/. Given that these are WP:SECONDARY abstracts of condensed information from WP:PRIMARY sources, I'm wondering why you think these are inaccurate? --Tenebrae (talk) 23:44, 15 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Tenebrae, I'm looking at the most recent one at the bottom. "The information on this site is based on public records and is believed to be accurate. However, it is provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied." This clashes with WP:BLPPRIMARY "Exercise extreme caution in using primary sources. Do not use trial transcripts and other court records, or other public documents, to support assertions about a living person. Do not use public records that include personal details, such as date of birth, home value, traffic citations, vehicle registrations, and home or business addresses." AngusWOOF (barksniff) 23:55, 15 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Well, California Birth Index is a secondary source and not a primary source, so WP:BLPPRIMARY doesn't really apply, and in any case primary sources can be used when there's no other option, provided — as you well and rightly note — that care is exercised.
The legal boilerplate you mention, variations of which appear on countless websites and print sources, doesn't really disqualify California Birth Index from ever being used. That strikes me as extreme. Is that really what you're saying? --Tenebrae (talk) 00:02, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Tenebrae, we can discuss this over at WP:RSN but here are the previous threads concerning them: [1] [2] [3] AngusWOOF (barksniff) 01:51, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Tenebrae, here's one from Daily Mail which isn't vetted but maybe we can find another news article that would be [4] AngusWOOF (barksniff) 02:17, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that her 2017 tweet says she does not want to publicize her age https://twitter.com/jessicadicicco/status/870723134009126912 "PSA: If someone is over the age of 30, it's rude to publicly say their age on their birthday #TheMoreYouKnow" AngusWOOF (barksniff) 02:26, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, AngusWOOF. Your instincts are right about Daily Mail — it's a WP:GOSSIP tabloid, and while not technically forbidden, I don't use it unless a subject gave an interview to it directly — and even then, I try to find the same information elsewhere.
We can go to WP:RSN if you want to and have the time. CBI seems clearly not WP:PRIMARY — we're not linking to jpgs of birth certificates, but rather to contains condensed abstracts, making it WP:SECONDARY. And WP:PRIMARY aren't blanket prohibited — census records, for instance, are allowed and used widely.
I think that's probably not the issue, though. You mention something else that jumps out at me, that she doesn't want her age made public. But it's already public on IMDb, which even though Wikipedia disallows as a reference source is still widely disseminated in the mainstream. Besides this, she's a public figure, not a private figure. And public figures really don't get to veto accurate, pertinent things they may not like. Can you imagine how any encyclopedia would be if public figures ordered Wikipedia not to include, say, their criminal convictions?
So where do we go from here? I'm wondering if mediation might be a first step. Or, as you suggest, we can go to RSN. I respect your position though I disagree with it, and we seem the sorts who can discuss this collegially. Thoughts?--Tenebrae (talk) 18:15, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Tenebrae, IMDb or even BTVA profile section is not reliable, so let's not go there. Plus there are issues with lawsuits involving IMDb and actor ages [5]. With regards to CBI, we can revisit RSN and see if people still agree with it. If it's very clear that she was born in California, that her parents names are exactly who they are, and that there isn't any other Jessica DiCicco in California / Los Angeles area born in June, then you can make the case for it. As for the person disclaiming their birth day/year publicity, look at Talk:Carrie Keranen's discussion. They certainly can request it by OTRS or by Help Desk for it to be taken down, but I would think they would have to be borderline notable, and not someone extremely high profile. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:23, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

We're not in any disagreement about IMDb (nor about BTVA, which I didn't even bring up). As I said: "But it's already public on IMDb, which even though Wikipedia disallows as a reference source is still widely disseminated in the mainstream." (Emphasis added, since you might have skimmed that part before). The point is, that horse is out of the barn.

As for requesting it, she's always free to, but I'm not sure why that's an issue with you to do for her. Are you a friend of DiCicco's? A fan? Have some other connection?

If you want to go to RSN rather than try mediation first, that's fine. Do you want to start the discussion there or should I? --Tenebrae (talk) 19:12, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Tenebrae, before going to RSN, let's try to figure this out. Confirm her mother is Margo Malkin and that the CBI has just one entry for Jessica with Margo as mother. And no, I have no connection to her. I do edit a bunch of voice actor articles, but I don't know them personally or have interacted with them outside of those who actually bother to talk about themselves here. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:27, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think getting this sort of verification is an excellent idea. I'm with you. As a journalist and editor by profession — and no matter the image journalism may have with some of the public — accuracy and factualness is paramount to me and every colleague I know.
So let's see what you and I can come up with together!--Tenebrae (talk) 19:40, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Been off Wikipedia for several days. And indeed, I have not yet found Margo in any reliable (non-wiki, non-fansite, non-SPS) source. I'll look again soon. With best wishes, --Tenebrae (talk) 18:10, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! A tidbit on p. 17 in Chicago Tribune, dated June 24, 1980, confirms that her mother is Margo Malkin, "Congratulations to former Chicago actor Bobby Di Cicco and his wife-manager Margo (Malkin) on their first-born, Jessica Sonya." It would probably also mean that she was born in June of 1980. Pancake (talk) 23:02, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Pancake. I'll wait a couple days, and unless there are any objections, now that we have verification of mother's name, I'll add the birthdate. --Tenebrae (talk) 00:01, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Pancake good find! This view shows part of it without requiring subscription [6] but if you have a subscription, then that would work too. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 00:15, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
