Untitled (2006)
[edit]I deleted the following line: "In 2002 Pim Fortuyn the openly gay founder of a center-right political party, was murdered by a militant environmentalist.", since this is pretty irrelevant. Fortuyn was murdered for his thoughts and not his sexual preferrence. 81.71.36.212 00:56, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Untitled (2007)
[edit]"Bias motivated crimes against LGBT people in these two island territories have been reported [4]."
Why is this important? As far as I know, "bias motivated crimes against LGBT people" have been reported _everywhere_. I'm removing this line.

MSM donating blood
[edit]It's not true that MSM are allowed to donate blood. They're not. I changed the page accordingly —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.93.232.211 (talk) 22:20, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Removal of disgusting Nazi-Troll-Propaganda from the intro since the "problems with the intro" thread was not taken to heart and put into the discrimination topic. It is more than obvious that the author wants to picture muslims and Moroccans as a threat to the "most liberal country in the world" - which is by the way funnily revealing that this quoted Dutch "liberalism" got far out of sight when it comes to marginalised groups like muslims.
This is just a very cheap and disgusting way of promoting an anti-muslim agenda in a field which becomes more and more occupied by femonationalist and political activists from the right - which have never been and are not going to be FOR the LGBTQI rights agenda but only AGAINST Muslims and other marginalised groups. This should be and has to be one of the central concerns of the LGBTQI community which will face harsh times when these activists do get their message out to the people - even via wikipedia pages on LGBTQI rights.
If the undone lines are really of importance then switch it to the discrimination topic.
DON'T LET THE RIGHTWING POPULISTS AND THEIR TROLLS DESTROY YOUR OTHERWISE SPLENDID LGBT RIGHTS PORTAL!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.18.242.224 (talk) 16:49, 7 December 2016 (UTC)
Problems with the intro
[edit]I feel there are a couple of problems with the intro.
This seems fine:
"The Netherlands is known for its liberal policies on matters such as sexual orientation. The public widely supports tolerance and equal rights for LGBT people,[1] although conservative Christians and Muslim immigrants tend to be more in opposition with their beliefs about gender and sexual equality."
But then:
"At least two-thirds of anti-gay hate crimes are attributed to Muslim immigrant youth."[2]
The source given only states this for Amsterdam, not for the Netherlands as a whole. Source #3, actually contradicts it, stating:
"In 86 percent of cases, homophobic attacks were committed by native Dutch people. In 2008, the percentage of attacks by people from ethnic minorities was 14 percent. The number of attackers of Moroccan origin was markedly higher in Amsterdam – 36 percent."
Moreover, source #2 seems to be oppinionated, and factual wrong on some accounts.
It's true that Muslim thought and actions concerning LGBT rights is a subject of discussion in the Netherlands. Controversie surounding the subject should however mean a scientific source must be given when presenting data/percentages to maintain objectivity. I propose addition of a new and better source or removal of this sentence.
The intro continues with:
"As of October 2011, while 90% of ethnic Dutch people in the Netherlands view homosexuality as moral, only 30% of Turks and 25% Moroccans share this opinion.[3] Hindus of Indian origin are reported to be in line with ethnic Dutch in terms of acceptance.[4]"
Even though I believe this is relevant in the topic of LGBT rights, it shouldn't be in the intro. It's not a direct fact about the rights, more a description of general public thought on LGBT sexuality. I propose this information to be moved down into the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.85.229.186 (talk) 12:02, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
Summary table
[edit]I was wondering if the summary table could be changed to be more akin to that of the United Kingdoms page. I've already started working on it [1]. I may need a little help with it however regarding the transgender laws and rights in the country. Like when it was declassified as a mental ilness or when it became legal to change gender. --VMDS7HOTHV (talk) 12:32, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
Commercial surrogacy & the summary table
[edit]Commercial surrogacy is illegal in the Netherlands as a whole, regardless of whether the couple is heterosexual, gay male or gay female. In other words, gay males do in fact have equal rights towards it as heterosexual couples, those rights just happen to be none. Thus, the red x-mark on this issue in the table is incorrect. (Even with the note slapped onto it in the notes-field of the table, the mark itself remains incorrect.) If the "at a visual glance" recognition of the fact that male-male couples cannot use commercial surrogacy is the more important part here, I'd suggest changing the point to something simply reflecting the access/rights to commercial surrogacy for gay male couples without the comparison to other couples. If the "equal rights"-part is considered the more important part, the x-mark should be replaced with a green check. (Because I am uncertain which is considered more important here, I have refrained from being bold and editing it myself) 195.241.179.24 (talk) 18:35, 24 May 2015 (UTC)
hindus of netherlands
[edit]Most indians and suirnamese hindus of the netherlands face homophobia on a daily basis even malpractice of current medical equipment that allows mind influencing and muscle control. Most of the bias is because of inadequate knowledge of already non practising hindus and ignorance . most have not read scriptures but prescribe you to live to a certain lifestyle. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.49.211.124 (talk) 23:11, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
