Talk:List of Deshastha Brahmins

I hope everybody understands the pupose of an encyclopedia is to have information on all subjects and makes easy read. Most entries on this page have nothing on whether the prominent person entered is dead or live, whether he or she lived in 20th or 13th century. This encyclopedia is open to everybody around the world, not just deshastha people so take your time to include the chronological information. Without giving the birthdates somebody not familiar with Deshastha community will be bored and go to another page.

A good format could be the one below:

  1. Sir Richard Branson (born 1950)
  2. Sir John Brunner, (1842-1919), chemicals
  3. Joseph Crosfield, (1792-1844), soap and chemicals
  4. Abraham Darby (c. 1678-1717), ironmaster

Non notables[edit]

  • Unsourced non notables have been removed. Any additions need to be both notable and verified by reliable sources. Thanks. Ism schism (talk) 11:43, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All the entries made, were of notable persons and they were included from reliable sources. one of them is Deshatha Brahmin Gotrawali other is Shukla Yajurvedi deshatha brahmin Newsletter. Hemantbp

Ism schism You behaved as a vandal in destroying this list where three years of work had gone in. It seems you have plenty of time on hand to delete a number of articles on daily basis. You could have spent that time in going through each deshastha entry and delete if necessary rather than an almost "blanket deletion".

I thought you were a Vaishnav, the protector but it looks you are more Shaiv, the destroyer ! --Anandbharti (talk) 15:45, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mahaavtar Babaji[edit]

Hello,

Mahavatar Babaji is not a Deshastha as per Kriya Yoga tradition or any known tradition. It is an unsubstantiated claim. If you have any reference, please quote. Otherwise, please delete from the list. Thanks. Illusion 08:35, 7 April 2009 (UTC)Mayasutra —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mayasutra (talkcontribs)

I have deleted the link to Mahavtar Babaji. There is no record of any form of yoga tradition that considers Mahavtar Babaji as a Deshastha. Thanks. Illusion 18:05, 7 April 2009 (UTC)Mayasutra —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mayasutra (talkcontribs)

BaLShastri Jambhekar and Anjali Bhagawat[edit]

A karhade brahmin web site claims that Jambhekar and Bhagwat are Karhade Brahmins. Please check your source and delete the names if necessary. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 20.137.18.50 (talk) 20:57, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Freedom Fighters[edit]

The list does not mention any Deshastha Freedom fighters . How about adding Tatya Tope, Rajguru, Pandurang Sadashiv Khankhoje, Vishnu Ganesh Pingale to the list ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.73.10.133 (talk) 21:30, 2 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tatya Tope and Rajguru are already mentioned. We need to have sources for others that say they are deshastha before we can add them here. Thanks -Acharya63 (talk) 17:55, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Vinchurkar family[edit]

We need to create a web-page for this as I do not believe we are allowed to list something that does not have a webpage in caste notables. Thanks.Acharya63 (talk) 14:29, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Acharya Atre[edit]

Was Acharya Atre was a deshastha or Koknastha? Thanks -Acharya63 (talk) 12:46, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Going wrong again[edit]

This list is going wrong again. The sources must show them self-identifying if they are living. - Sitush (talk) 07:16, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
