Many gotra are missing.[edit]

Where is kasana, poswal, chouhan etc gotra. Because in gurjar society have 1178 gotra. Dineshkasana (talk) 09:27, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest, it would be better if this article did not exist. To add anything to it would require reliable sources, and please note that caste associations are not reliable. - Sitush (talk) 09:33, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
To clarify, it should be redirected to Gurjar. - Sitush (talk) 09:51, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I think if the members of the caste are adding gotra names from their own caste associations it's ok. Because they will be better informed about their own castes than others. Good faith edits should not be reverted otherwise there will be nothing to read. Truthfulsoldier (talk) 07:49, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No, caste associations are not reliable sources, and they almost all "promote" their own caste - Arjayay (talk) 08:25, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ok they aren't reliable. But atleast the least of clans can be added from that source. For the history or origins of a particular caste we may have to depend on the opinion of Historians and anthropologists but atleast the list of clans can be added from caste association sources

Inclusion criteria[edit]

As stated at Wikipedia:Stand-alone lists, Wikipedia:Notability#Stand-alone lists and Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lists#Adding individual items to a list:-

  1. All lists must have clearly defined inclusion criteria
  2. Every entry should meet the notability criteria for its own article. Red-linked entries are acceptable if the entry is verifiably a member of the list, and it is reasonable to expect an article could be forthcoming in the future. This prevents indiscriminate lists, and prevents individual lists from being too large to be useful to readers.
  3. Editors may, at their discretion, choose to limit large lists by only including entries for independently notable items or those with Wikipedia articles.
  4. All list entries must follow Wikipedia's core content policies of Verifiability (by citing reliable sources as references), No original research, and Neutral point of view

This list fails most of these requirements in that:-

  • There are no clearly defined inclusion criteria
  • Many of the entries are not "verifiably a member of the list" in that they have neither an article nor a reference
  • As per the above rules, all redlinks, without a citation, should be removed
  • There are no redlinks with a citation so those provisos are irrelevant
  • I will, therefore, remove the redlinks as per the above rationale - Arjayay (talk) 12:43, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

About removal of clans[edit]

Most of these clans had no Wikipedia pages and they were also linked to individual people, one such example is linking of Bainsala clan to Kirori Singh Bainsala. They have also included the link to many caste group like Teli which has nothing to do with Gurjars. Reverted it to last best version. One should include the clans with sources, if the article exists, as WP:WTAF also applies here.Admantine123 (talk) 18:30, 10 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
