Sir Ernest Lee-Steere

[edit]

Sir Ernest was LM of Perth 1972-78. He was born 22 December 1912, and he's either 95 now, or dead. I can find no info about his death on the internet. If he has died, can anyone advise me when he died? -- JackofOz (talk) 04:30, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A belated reply. As far as I can tell he's still kicking. I knocked up Ernest Henry Lee-Steere anyway. I'll use your date of birth. Djanga 13:10, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well done. Thanks. -- JackofOz (talk) 20:23, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
He's dead now (9 January 2011). -- Jack of Oz [your turn] 07:21, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sir Charles Nathan

[edit]

I've removed Charles Nathan from the list. Both the ADB and David Black's biographical register of WA parliamentarians say that he was mayor in 1914 (or from 1914 to 1915), but going through Trove I can find no mention of his ever being mayor – something like that would obviously come up in an obituary. This article in The West clearly states that Prowse was immediately succeeded by Nicholson as mayor. Not sure how the Charles Nathan myth got started. IgnorantArmies (talk) 08:06, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch! The Drover's Wife (talk) 08:28, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
ditto. Nice work IA. Perhaps a footnote against Nicholson explaining the discrepancy is appropriate. Moondyne (talk) 08:31, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Done. I can only assume Mossenson at the ADB got it wrong somehow (or one of his sources), and that was carried forward by Black and Bolton. I notice Nathan wasn't mentioned on the list you got from the City of Perth (above). IgnorantArmies (talk) 10:11, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Does someone maybe want to tell the ADB so this rumor stops? Trove, particularly at its current depth, has provided an opportunity to fact-check their articles that didn't exist before and that they didn't have at the time. The Drover's Wife (talk) 10:21, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 1 May 2016

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: No consensus to move the article has been established within the RM time period and thus defaulting to not moved. Additionally, the !votes for "oppose" were significantly more detailed and thus resulting in a greater consensus on the !votes. (non-admin closure) Music1201 talk 22:13, 30 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

List of Mayors and Lord Mayors of PerthList of mayors and lord mayors of PerthAll other lists of this type are spelt without caps, except for the name of the city. In June 2008 this list was moved to the correct spelling, but that move was reverted without explanation. Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 03:47, 1 May 2016 (UTC) -- Relisted. Anarchyte (work | talk) 08:42, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. Per Amakuru. The Drover's Wife (talk) 17:50, 9 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Huh? - this requested move has sat with 2 supports and 4 clear opposes, and a weird embedded relist has been inserted inside the text above today. I fail to see why the 'relist' which says nothing has been inserted. relisted? where? why? there is insufficient support for the move and thats it. JarrahTree 14:13, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Requested move 5 May 2021

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: moved. List of mayors of Perth has been suggested, but there is no explicit consensus on it yet. Proposing an additional move request now for that suggestion is permissible (suggest listing all similarly titled pages for consistency). List of Mayors and Lord Mayors of PerthList of mayors and lord mayors of Perth – This move was denied in 2016, but the style manual has changed since. Would now conform to both MOS:JOBTITLES as well as all other similarly named articles:

Note: the talk page title doesn't match the current article title. Woko Sapien (talk) 13:49, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Disregard the note about the talk page; it has since been moved. --Woko Sapien (talk) 14:41, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Another example used to oppose before was List of Prime Ministers of Australia, which is now at List of prime ministers of Australia. — BarrelProof (talk) 06:10, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
One prior case was List of Mayors and Lord Mayors of Manchester, which was moved to List of mayors of Manchester. — BarrelProof (talk) 06:06, 6 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Suggest List of mayors of Perth as more concise: See the entries in {{Lists of lord mayors in the United Kingdom}}. Many of those have titles that are "List of mayors of X". — BarrelProof (talk) 00:01, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
