The busiest in the EU/EEA

[edit]

Busiest routes in Norway

[edit]

I added a disputed mark to the routes in EU/EEA. The Norwegian routes there most certainly has inflated figures. I tried to make sense of the Eurostat data, but they were quite opaque, so the error is most likely pardonable. There were some writings in the Norwegian press when the OSL-TOS route exceeded 1 million passengers (hereafter MPAX as the unit) in 2012. In the same article, OSL-TRD is quoted with 1.8 MPAX, OSL-BGO with 1.7 MPAX and OSL-SVG with 1.5 MPAX. So, if someone would take the time to actually get the verified figures it would be a good thing. Kjetil Kjernsmo (talk) 18:43, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Latest stats for seat capacity

[edit]

There is a latest stat for busiest route in terms of seat capacity here: http://www.centreforaviation.com/analysis/the-worlds-top-ten-routes-are-in-asia-58178 This is however only for a 7 days period (Aug 29 - Sep4, 2011). The current stat is a monthly stat for July 2010. But i dont think its a big issue. So im planning to update the stats soon unless anyone disagree. ќמшמφטтгמtorque 03:01, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Busiest air routes between an airport in Europe and outside of Europe: any shorter title idea?

[edit]

see title. long enough. 77.12.89.85 (talk) 15:46, 30 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't sound like a good idea for an article. Very, very narrow and specific. Kransky (talk) 16:49, 30 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Caught a missing airline on list

[edit]

Spirit (NK) flies the ORD<>LGA route, see either airport's article for reference. I just happened to have experienced this for a fact. 128.177.161.167 (talk) 07:58, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Distance column ?

[edit]

The distance between city pairs is a relevant parameter, as noted in the lead. It can be added simply by using the GCM page (or similar) and the airport codes, for example New York JFK to Los Angeles is 2475 miles, and Heathrow to JFK is 3451 miles. The reference list will be quite long, and could perhaps be compacted using <small>. If just a few people work the list this way, we can quickly add most of the entries, but I want to know what you think before I do some work.

An easy starting point could be the Top10 section "Busiest air routes between an airport in Europe and outside of Europe" - I will boldly start with that in a couple of days if no-one beats me to it. (what happens to signing tildes?)

Factual accuracy issues

[edit]

There are some serious internal issues in this article — take a look at the flights within Australia and the US, for example, several routes listed show way higher passenger numbers than this purported 'World' ranking. The source for the first 'World' list seems pretty dubious in the first place. The scope is inconsistent: continents are each formatted differently and some of the listings are individual countries. I suggest a major reworking here, the article quality is way lower than what you'd expect from a summary article of this type. I'll volunteer if I get some support, thanks guys. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amornoguerra (talkcontribs) 16:49, 8 August 2013 (UTC) I also doubt the Greek figures (Athens to LCA and SKG) - the number shown here does not tie in to the official Athens airport timetable (not too many flights listed!), and the passenger numbers are surprisingly similar. Generally, I think it makes more sense to show city pairs including all airports rather than just one airport to one airport. This way, London-Dublin would lead the pack in Europe. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.165.168.132 (talk) 13:33, 5 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No references for the By Seat Capacity section

Considering there are no sources for this section, and I was unable to find any references searching the web, I think this section should be deleted unless someone can verify the information is accurate.

In this section why the routes between Indian cities have been placed incorrectly? For example Delhi-Mumbai route has 140 flights per day but it is ranked below Fukuoka-Tokyo route. Similarly at number 19, Delhi-Bangalore route has more flights than the 17th ranked Hong Kong-Taipei route. Is this deliberate or some kind of mistake? This needs to be corrected.

Sources for 2017 data

[edit]

Some sources: Busiest international routes Busiest Routes in Africa (Adding up Johannesburg-Cape Town stats between O. R. Tambo International Airport and Lanseria International Airport gets to ~6M passengers per annum. Some of the other numbers might only show JNB for previous years...). I can't easily find stats for other continents (non-international flights) though. MoHaG (talk) 14:13, 1 June 2018 (UTC) Some more: Americas MoHaG (talk) 14:24, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

OAG 2023 ranking

[edit]

It lists everything per seats available on the planes rather than passengers flown. Given that OAG is the major source for this list, how should we procede with this change? Respublik (talk) 16:50, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

European city pair busiest routes must now redirect to their airports
