advertisements

[edit]

Wikipedia is not a place to advertise every product called "maya"

Examples include (but are not limited to):

  • [Maya Drones]
  • [Maya Skateboards]
  • [Maya Jordans] (most recently added advertisement)

Please do not place disambiguation terms that simply link to external advertising sites. Wikipedia disambiguation pages are designed to take researchers to the right Wikipedia article, not to advertising. This is called "Spam." Thanks for understanding. Chris 22:12, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have removed the actual links, though they can be seen in the history if anyone is really interested. Please don't give the spammers the satisfaction of an active link from Wikipedia to raise their Google rank. - BT 04:57, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

[edit]

This page had been the subject of repeated vandalism recently, so I added semi-protection to it. Lightblade 02:04, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Strange entry

[edit]

Could somebody make some sense from this addition?

  • Maya,(maaya) needs, property or materials where will only exist for temporary or impermanent such as car, money, house, land, status, health, satisfaction/satisfactory

Is it some dictionary entry, or what? Anyway, there is no such article. --Mormegil 19:45, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Primary links?

[edit]

There are no primary (top, immediate) links on this page. I would assume that the vast majority of users are looking either for the Maya civilization (which is high up) or Autodesk Maya (which is buried pretty deep). Perhaps they should be placed as primary links, and a "Maya can also mean: " before the rest. Alexwebb2 (talk) 13:08, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think there's a fair argument for Maya civilization, but I have never heard of Autodesk Maya. I would think the mother of the founder of Buddhism would be significantly more important than a computer program, though I'm also familiar with the Japanese cruiser. This seems like one of those topics with enough "important" meanings to make a primary list so long as it would be better to leave them under subject headers. Since Maya civilization, and related topics, is already at the top of the top section, I would suggest just leaving it as is. - BanyanTree 11:06, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The argument for Maya civilization would IMHO be stronger if we had an article for Maya (civilization) and little else. As it is, the top-level for the Maya civilization (represented here by the first section) is pratically a disambig page in its own right. As such, a move to Maya for the people / civilization / language / numerals / calendar et al. would be little clearer than it is at present. Given that Maya (disambiguation) already redirects here, I think we're already sorted. Andy Dingley (talk) 12:35, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
