[edit]

I believe that this article should have appropriate name Mikołaj Krzysztof Radziwiłł the Orphan or Mikołaj Krzysztof " the Orphan " Radziwiłł but not Sierotka M.K. 22:01, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Nicknames should be translated.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 22:27, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
And actually Wikipedia:Naming conventions (names and titles) is against nicknames in the titles in general. Renata 22:02, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Personally I find that convention in need of much change :( --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 14:09, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It is quite difficult to distinguish both of them without nicknames;)--Lokyz 15:05, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So which one? Mikołaj Krzysztof Radziwiłł the Orphan or Mikołaj Krzysztof "the Orphan" Radziwiłł? Renata 15:45, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd chose the second one. And make a few redirects :) --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 15:51, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'd chose the Mikołaj Krzysztof Radziwiłł the Orphan M.K. 18:53, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Moved to second one. Don't be shy on redirects. They are cheap :) Renata 23:40, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

About cities names

[edit]

There are no "Wilno" or "Troki", so let's call cities with their actual names, not historical. So that's is why Warsaw isn't called "Varšuva" or somethung like that.

there are writtne names of those locations in Ruthenian, and Latin. Polish as main used became after Both Radvil Black and Red died. i do not think Polish would be apropriate language here.--Lokyz 15:03, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Probable copyvio notice

[edit]

I'm deleting the following sentences as a probable copyvio. Source: [1], a Wayback machine archive dated to December 5, 2004. Diff of WP insertion on December 25, 2004: [2]

Article: He is credited with trying to persuade the confederates to surrender their arms. Like other Radziwiłłs, he looked after the interests of his family. For example, he gained royal pardon for his cousin Janusz, one of the organisers of the Rokosz. However, Mikolaj Krzysztof refused to support Krzysztof 'Piorun' Radziwiłł in the feud with another magnatial family, which threatened to develop into a bloody civil war in Lithuania.

For example, he gained royal pardon for his cousin Janusz, one of the organisers of the Rokosz. On the other hand, Mikolaj Krzysztof was not uncritical in his help: he refused to support Krzysztof the Tunderbolt in the feud with another magnatial family, which threatened to develop into a bloody civil war in Lithuania.

Article: He was a founder of many castles, cloisters, hospitals and churches, of which the most splendid was the Jesuit church in Nieśwież. One of the chapels in this church became the family's mausoleum for the next two hundred and fifty years. For his son, Zygmunt Karol, a Confrere? of the Knights Hospitallers, he found a Commanderie in Stwolowicze?. In Nieśwież, which became his seat, he built a castle where he established a library and a gallery of the family portraits. Because of these works, he attracted many skillful artisans and tradesmen into his estate.

Nesvizh

[edit]

Nesvizh was part of the Lithuanian part of the Commonwealth and the town is now in Belarus so it is outright wrong to name it the Polish way.--Jonas Kazickas (talk) 15:14, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
