Don't plagiarize

[edit]

The previous version of the article was deleted after November 7, 2006, due to plagiarism, with exact copying of text from a copyrighted webpage. More can be added to the current article, but please be careful to reword and paraphrase when adding information. -Wikid77 20:27, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Changes

[edit]

This article needs to reflect the current state of the Mohegan tribe as most other Native American tribes are set up. Perhaps making it look more like the Pequot page with an up-to-date info box about the tribe and its "reservation" in Uncasville would help somewhat. oncamera(t) 04:06, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is hard to do! Much of the knowledge isn't written, and a lot of what is was undertaken by the casino band. Some of the knowledge that *is* written can be found on the web, but is less than scholarly. That said, there must surely be more we can add without causing an edit war. A picture of Uncas Leap would be fabulous. There doesn't appear to be one in Wikimedia Commons. Perhaps someone can just go snap one and add it. ;) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abesottedphoenix (talkcontribs) 02:10, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Different spellings/ different groups

[edit]

Tagged section with the incoherent tag; needs some cleanup for clarity RE: the variety of names & spellings of names is confusing. Explain better. Thanks :)--Pgagnon999 (talk) 06:44, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Resources for expanding the article

[edit]

If you'd like to help expand this article, here are some resources.

After both the English and German wikipedia articles were deleted due to plagiarism, the folks over at de.wikipedia.org have rebuilt the German Mohegan article, to the point where it's currently quite comprehensive and detailed (42,268 bytes) thanks largely to German users Napa (talk | contribs) and Nikater (talk | contribs) and others.

It's well worth having a look at the article if you know some German. Otherwise, here are some references, some from the German site, plus a few others:

  • Indian wiki Mohegan article (German),
  • Lee Sultzman's Mohegan article,
  • fourdirections Mohegan history timeline.
  • Encyclopedia of Native American Tribes by Carl Waldman, pp 173-4
  • Indians of the United States, by Clark Wissler, pp 318-20, et al.
  • Indian Heritage of America, by Alvin Josephy

Please add other useful resources here. Mathglot (talk) 04:11, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is there verification for this statement?

[edit]

In 1987, Mohegan Tribal Chief Ralph Sturges met Princess Ann of The Mohegans and her family at Bradley Airport after their talk on September 11, 1987. Sturges made contact with Princess Ann after Michael Jackson married the teen model and became Prince Jackson. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.190.233.44 (talk) 12:48, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
