I'm not in acq with underwater transmission, but I think that this applies whenever there is a wave moving in a medium, and it is conceived as a ray. --Cantalamessa (talk) 12:17, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Multipath in wired media

Although many people think that Multipath propagation only happens in wireless, it's also a very common problem in wired media like power lines (specially when operating at MHz frequencies). I added a section about that, but the rest of the article (which I didn't want to change) still gives the impression that this only applies to wireless communications. Merge?

The multipath interference article seems to cover the same subject area as this page (multipath propagation), but is much less complete - and therefore I'm proposing a merger of multipath interference into multipath propagation. Comb filtering?

This sounds to me exactly like (what audio people call) comb filtering, but the description here says it's specific to RF. Is multipath interference to RF what comb filtering is to sound waves? The multiple paths will cause comb filtering. Because of the relative narrow bandwidth of carrier signals, the experience with RF is more about spacial effects than frequency response. ~Kvng (talk) 20:00, 14 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
