Revisions

[edit]

I have made some revisions. When onme changes one's sources in order to make them believable, the result is neither good history nor intewllectual honesty. Very naughty... and thoroughly Christian, might I add? --Wetman 04:03, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you, and so I'm rather confused. I wasn't really going for historical revisionism so much as trying to reconcile some very different sources. I tried to go more for ommission of details than introducing incongruities. Anyway, thanks for the insight, especially in regards to the Siege of Paris (since I would have had no idea that's what her vitae were referring to). I'm going to clean them up a bit by adding them into the "Notes" section. Alekjds talk 04:14, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I couldn't work my notes into your format: I shall sit down now and stop rocking the boat, so you can edit. It's a general rule that the more extreme miracles and tortures in hagiographies are gracefully elided in all the versions available on the web. I haven't seen the Vita, but I'd bet the king is simply Carolus without "Bald" or "Fat". The tacit understanding is that Opportuna and her family were Carolingian nobles, as all bishops of Gaul were: should that be mentioned? --Wetman 05:38, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps, but it seems to me an implicit assumption with saints of this age, as I've seen that most "poor" or "common" saints are usually mentioned as being such. By the way, I had actually worked all your notes into the Notes format, but it was lost in the edit conflict. I suppose I'll just rework them as before. Alekjds talk 20:58, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
