An image of coins[edit]
Here's another photograph of coins of the Parisii. Could someone introduce it in the article? Thank you. PHG (talk) 16:18, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
- The image of those coins has been added to the article by somebody. - GümsGrammatiçus (talk) 20:40, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
A question about the origin of the name "Paris"[edit]
According to the Ys article...the origins of the name of the city of Paris is from "Par Ys" meaning similar to Ys? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.47.177.150 (talk) 22:38, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
- The problem with the "Paris" mention in the "Ys" article is that it isn't properly sourced. It's followed by two citations: The first leads to an anonymous, stand-alone webpage, full of typos, with no indication that it’s been edited, or published anywhere, and it doesn’t really qualify as a Reliable Source. It doesn’t definitely claim that the "origins of the name of the city of Paris are from Par Ys meaning similar to Ys." It only claims vaguely "it is said" that "Lutece was called Paris because…" etc. (The second citation leads to a touristy French language source that refers to sardines, but doesn’t say anything about Paris.) - GümsGrammatiçus (talk) 20:43, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
- And on top of all that, the Ys article (in the "Etymology" section) contradicts the Paris-etymology idea, and says that "Ys" derives from Celtic words for "low"―in the phrase "low city". - GümsGrammatiçus (talk) 10:15, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
