What this article is

[edit]

Once upon a time this was the topic article for a series of individual Phish tour articles, entitled 1992 Phish Tour et al. These articles included some general text describing the history of the band and the evolution of the band's concert performances during that year, together with complete itineraries and full setlists for all shows from that year.

Later upon a time all these individual articles were deleted, on the grounds that they were Phishcruft. The topic article was moved to Category: Phish tours, which made no sense since the article didn't describe a category and there were no articles in the category.

Since these times, concert tour articles became much more prevalent on Wikipedia, especially for major acts whose artistic and commercial reputations revolved around touring as much as or more than recording.

Like Phish. So I decided to try to revive this material, focusing only on the concert/touring history. I found the deleted articles from 1983 through 1993 on a mirror site (there is life after death in the Wikipedia world!), stripped out most of the band history material, stripped out all of the itineraries and set lists (which I agree were totally inappropriate) and restored the rest inline in this article. The later year articles either I couldn't find, or only contained setlists and no general descriptive material; so those are now stub sections.

So now the idea of this article is to explain the history of Phish's touring, and how their approach evolved over the years, until they became a pretty much unique phenomenon in American musical history. That's a worthy topic of a Wikipedia article. Wasted Time R 02:29, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I subsequently found and restored 1994 in similar fashion, and also found and boiled down 2003 and 2004. Wasted Time R 03:12, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Potential Misinformation

[edit]

In the 1989 section, it mentions that Mike had not graduated college. I was under the impression that Mike was the first to graduate (around 1986). I thought Fishman didn't graduate until 1990. Someone may want to check my facts, but in the mean time I am making a source note on the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adamlankford (talkcontribs) 07:03, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

the hamburg germany show in 1996 was on july 23rd, not the 25th. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.202.214.161 (talk) 00:01, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
