I discovered a Chinese scene but it is cut off TV. No need to look it up now. TobytheTramEngine 20:26, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:PussNToots2.jpg

[edit]

Image:PussNToots2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

  • There is a very short scene when a record disc lands on Tom's head. Tom's eyes become slanted and his whiskers straighten downwards, making him appear like a Chinese caricature, and Jerry then proceeds to imitate his foe's predicament. This is cut from a number of network and cable stations in the US (including Cartoon Network) as it is deemed "racially insensitive" towards Chinese people. [1]

CN: The Chinese gag on the record player, where a record lands on Tom's head making him look Chinese followed by Jerry mockingly imitating his foe's predicament, is edited.

Not done: The source does not support many of the details from that content. Here is the quote from the source: "CN: The Chinese gag on the record player, where a record lands on Tom's head making him look Chinese followed by Jerry mockingly imitating his foe's predicament, is edited." From this source, you can not claim that it is a very short scene, the details of how the record made him look Chinese, the claim of being cut from many stations, or the motivation for cutting the scene. Your prose is very good, but you need to limit the claims in the content to those made in the source. Also, please stop embedding section breaks into your request. You can wrap them with <nowiki></nowiki>, as I did above, to show the heading without inserting the break, or you can simply ask to add a section "Censorship" with this content. The latter would also allow you to tell us where you would like to have the new section placed. Thanks, Celestra (talk) 15:07, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
