Rename[edit]

I'm going to propose renaming this to something with a date in it, ie RENAMO insurgency (2013) or RENAMO insurgency (2013-2014), given the tendency to confuse this conflict with the earlier Mozambican Civil War, and given the fact that the two are sometimes described interchangeably. --Katangais (talk) 01:37, 2 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rename to simply "RENAMO insurgency"[edit]

To avoid confusion with the Mozambican Civil War, all that is needed is a distinguish note at the top. (This is about...for the... or Not to be confused with...) The added years at the end are no longer relevant to what was mentioned in the previous discussion, as the insurgency resumed in 2015 and has gone on into 2016. The title is also incorrect now; and changing the name every year it continues is repetitive and distasteful.

Well, counting the events of the civil war, RENAMO has now waged two very separate insurgencies in history, in two entirely separate geopolitical situations and with two entirely separate set of dynamics. It wouldn't do to call one the RENAMO insurgency, especially this one, considering its comparatively limited scope and the fact the term is still synonmous among most Mozambicans with the war. What I would propose is following the same precedent set by similar conflict articles dealing with Iraq, Libya, and Syria; rename this article to RENAMO insurgency (2013-present), assuming it's going to rage for the foreseeable future. --Katangais (talk) 10:20, 10 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
