Jet Blue
[edit]207.241.249.1 maintains there is Jet Blue service to JFK. User:Jasepl maintains Jet Blue does not fly to RUT. The Jet Blue website allows one to book tickets from RUT to JFK on Jet Blue, operated by Cape Air. Can we discuss this here before any more article edits? --Jc3s5h (talk) 19:06, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- And the British Airways website allows me to book flights from LAX to AKL operated by Qantas. Doesn't mean British Airways fly to Auckland, does it?
- There is actually a spectrum of affiliation here, and simply deleting the mention of JetBlue deprives readers of useful information. First, I don't know what additional requirements JetBlue might place on a regional airline when it lists the route as being "Jet Blue operated by xxx". Perhaps there are additional safety or customer service requirements beyond what would be present if the xxx airline were totally independent, perhaps not. Perhaps passengers receive more customer loyalty program points than if riding an independent airline, or additional protection from change fees if connecting flights are late; I don't know.
- In any case, it appears that there is a direct flight by Cape Air between RUT and JFK that is not otherwise mentioned. --Jc3s5h (talk) 21:41, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- The airport site says JetBlue. I guess you are saying this is merely "code sharing?" If JetBlue doesn't have an office there and planes labeled "JetBlue" do not fly from Rutland, I agree it shouldn't be here. And we don't furnish WP:TRAVEL information to anyone. That is the function of Wikitravel or some .com site. Not Wikipedia. Student7 (talk) 05:02, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- After studying the Cape Air web site, it appears that they do not fly directly from Rutland to JFK; they must stop in Boston. Also, they seem to have ticketing arrangements with a number of airlines. So I guess there really is no reason to mention JetBlue in this article. --Jc3s5h (talk) 05:17, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- If you book flights from Rutland to JFK on JetBlue's website but the flight is operated by Cape Air, then it is a codeshare, meaning that Cape Air is actually the operating airline of the route, JetBlue just codeshares on the route. hence, per WP:AIRPORTS guidelines, codeshares of some sort should not be listed. LAX-AKL is a British Airways codeshare flight operated by Qantas (QF and BA are both in Oneworld alliance). Snoozlepet (talk) 06:16, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
