Shanghai Jiading City Development F.C.Shanghai Jiading Boji F.C. – Official English name of the club Sagan Storo (talk) 02:47, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support Jiading Boji F.C. the name on the crest of the football club (despite the footnote of the official website use "Shanghai Booking Football Club" another bad auto translate, this time probably by Baidu but not the notorious google translate.)
For other people who did not understand Chinese. Hhkohh stated the source from February 2019 which use 上海嘉定城发 = Shanghai Jiading city development (or the short name of city development Chinese: 城市开发/城市发展), while Boji is the pinyin of (not 搏击, boxing). 博击 probably a name of a company, which the owner of the football club may be also owned such company.
While on a back issue of Chinese newspaper (扬子晚报), it used "上海嘉定城发博击俱乐部" (Shanghai Jiading city development Boji club) in the main text, which have both "city development" and "Boji ". While "Jiading city development" was in the title. Also, the photo of the news article shown "上海博击足球俱乐部", dropping the word Jiading and have the full affix FC. However, it qualifies as interpreting primary source.
Since the club can carried a long sponsored title just like Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao F.C., and the footnote of the aforementioned website shown [Jiading] Chengfa Group (not City Development Group), which is a Jiading district government-owned company, RSSSF and other sources just got the translated of 城发 wrong. it is not a generic term but the proper noun of the sponsor.
And the database that re-publish government registries use "上海市嘉定博击足球俱乐部", as full name and probably related entries use 上海博击长空足球俱乐部有限公司 (with the legal suffix limited as well as changing 城发 to 长空) .
Again, the official website use 博击长空足球俱乐部 as long name, dropping all the locations as well as changing from 城发 to 长空.
According to an news article by Xinhua News Agency: 博击长空 is the name of the club, as Chengfa is the title sponsor of the first team only.
So, better just use clean title. Matthew hk (talk) 22:14, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Matthew hk, but there is an official website of Jiading City Development, I am neither opposed nor support your comment for now Hhkohh (talk) 23:13, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe this one is clearer: [2] Hhkohh (talk) 23:16, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
However, we need the source of the club name used in this season Hhkohh (talk) 23:22, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
this one Hhkohh (talk) 23:28, 10 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It is whatever move the club to the current sponsored name or the original name which their youth system still known for. Also, since the republisher of the government database have two entries, seem the club first team and youth team are legally two legal person and they are not parent and subsidiary. Or the republisher had outdated information. There is total lack of English source for this club. www.jdcf.cn as you stated , is not the site for the FC but the sponsor Jiading Chengfa Group (which the full name is Chinese: 上海嘉定城市发展集团有限公司, in Chinese you can have many short names of the same company), which in Qingdao there was another Chengfa Group (www.chengfagroup.com). Yet "Jiading City Development" have some sort of google hit, but not many are reliable source and then alternative proposal have even worse situation.
lastly, according to this Sina Corp news article (Sina had notoriously had their staff writer, and then as republisher and then as a outlet of self-published source 自媒体; the news article seem by staff writer as i was clicked from www.cfacup.com/team/index.html), the legal name of the club was the version with legal suffix :上海博击长空足球俱乐部有限公司, while the short name according to the article was 嘉定城发博击 = Jiading Chengfa Boji . • Comment The problem of this RM was absolutely no real reliable source written in English. RSSSF is good at match result not the name, the volunteering editor there may just got it wrong from Google Translate. But yet "City Development" in the current state is the most possible search term. However, as per my last comment in the last RM, the name of the sponsor was Jiading Chengfa Group, it is their official English (or Latin script) name, however, many company have many alias as "common" name in the media due to transliteration. E.g. Nanfang Media Group = Southern Newspaper Group = Southern Daily Press Group. Matthew hk (talk) 11:42, 18 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Also, the above ref 1 that was provided by the nominator, did not indicate the official name in English, but merely a list of volunteering staff including staff from Jiading F.C., which state the official name of the club in Chinese was 上海博击长空足球俱乐部 (page 12 of the leaflet; page 18 of the pdf), not even supporting anything on official English name of the club. (the club use Boji on the crest while some section of the official site use Boo King). Also, for 长空, use Chángkōng, Changkong or "Longsky"? Matthew hk (talk) 22:08, 18 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: not moved. There's now been three requested moves all with the same rationale in the space of six months, and all with the same opposition. Unless there is extensive future discussion on this talk page showing evidence of substantial use in reliable sources for the proposed alternate title. I would strongly dissuade from opening future requested moves based on the provided rationale. Shanghai Jiading City Development F.C.Shanghai Jiading Boji F.C. – Shanghai Jiading Boji is the OFFICIAL NAME OF THE CLUB. “City Development” is the SPONSOR NAME. The people that were previously editing this page were unable to tell those two apart and messed the name up. The title of this page should be the official name, not the sponsor name. Sagan Storo (talk) 14:38, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
