The (still active) Family Stone

[edit]

I'm slightly confused that the article indicates that the band ceased to exist entirely long ago aside from a couple of concerts in 2006 & 2012 -- because the band didn't stop touring after Sly left, just became The Family Stone. Perhaps one of the article's regular editors could fix that in the article intro & infobox, so visitors don't get the wrong idea? (I saw them a while back and had an awesome time; I'd hate to think someone that's already a fan might miss out due to thinking they're not active.)  —xyzzy 09:53, 18 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Then obviously, Sly & The Family Stone has ceased to exist - you are talking about a successor group (of sorts), not the article's subject. Understand? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.111.23.84 (talk) 01:05, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No- it just lost a member. If Adam Levine left Maroon 5, it would still be maroon 5 Dark Lord Thomas Pie (talk) 19:55, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think both are right - sort of. Technically a group named The Family Stone is not Sly & the Family Stone. Musically both versions of the group may be most certainly similar. After the person who 'fronts' a group leaves - writes, produces, performs etc. in the group - it very well may be the band is the same in name only. It's an individual thing based an the particular group you are considering. THX1136 (talk) 16:52, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think they are a band...they never was a band Anonymous8206 (talk) 21:37, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
