Missing Picture

[edit]

Why is there no picture of Stefan in the info box? How do you go by to insert one?

Sportsmanship

playing style?

[edit]

Cut the reference crap here, now.. its ridiculous! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.216.25.137 (talk) 08:02, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

he is one of the most famous serve and volley players, and one of the greats, and there is no playing style section? I could have done it already but I know there are others who are better out there so please? Habibko (talk) 23:01, 18 February 2008 (UTC) Totally agree and I found it a stark omission. Until such time, I have insterted a small phrase in the introduction. Pity the serve-and-volleyers are not made any more :( Cribananda (talk) 05:49, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request for wider input on discussion at WikiProject Tennis

[edit]

There is a long, ongoing discussion at WP:Tennis about the tournament tables found in tennis articles on English-language Wikipedia (e.g., this type of table). The discussion is about whether the "official sponsored name" of a tournament - such as Pacific Life Open - or another tournament name without the sponsor - such as Indian Wells Masters - must be used in those articles. Please join the discussion here. Thanks. Tennis expert (talk) 09:29, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lineman incident

[edit]

"Edberg accidentally killed Dick Wertheim with an errant serve during the 1983 US Open."

I feel this should be reworded. It was not the impact of Edberg's serve which killed him, but rather the fact that he fell and struck his head on the ground. This is very misleading. 71.17.200.66 (talk) 05:16, 20 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Edberg accidentally killed Dick Wertheim with an errant serve during the 1983 US Open."

Wertheim was seated in a folding chair serving as the center service linesman in the match, when Stefan Edberg served an ace that struck Wertheim in the groin with such force it toppled him backward in his chair. Wertheim's head slammed with great force onto the hard court surface at the U.S. Open at the National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadow, New York.

The above quote is from a article I found on yahoo

When you used the word 'errant' it said to me the serve was improper, that is, not served when, where or how it should have been. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.2.47.188 (talk) 05:58, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Subjective for the lead ?

[edit]

No big matter, but I don't believe a matter of any kind can be "subjective for the lead". It's either subjective or not. Boeing720 (talk) 06:05, 2 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

But the lead is supposed to contain a summary of the most important facts given to us in the rest of prose. Subjective opinion sourcing on who is good, better, best, is often left in a legacy section of prose. Fyunck(click) (talk) 09:45, 2 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
