Spelling?

[edit]

what is the correct name? Two Ts or two Ls? People keep chaing between the two types, so who is correct? At the moment the article is spelled with two Ts and one L but the page has been written with one T and two Ls? So what which is it?

  1. Strafbattalion
  2. Strafbatallion

The correct German spelling is Strafbataillon. Yet, if you check with the German WP, you will find that the units in question never were called by that name, but instead:

  1. Sonderabteilung
  2. Bewährungsbataillon
  3. Feldstrafgefangenen-Abteilungen

NB the above assertion is not supported by the text of the German-language Wikipedia page for "Strafeinheit" (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strafeinheit).

As a German-language guy since birth, I've only seen "battalion" in the English language, and "Bataillon" in both German and French. Later, I'll change the spelling to that effect.--Keimzelle (talk) 11:12, 7 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
And here we are in 2018, and our article's title is still misspelled. "Battalion" is indeed the English spelling of the term, while "Bataillon" is the German and French spelling, and the correct one according to our policy. It might be necessary to redirect "Strafbattalion" to this article once I correct the title's spelling. We'll see. loupgarous (talk) 18:30, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

totally misleading article

[edit]

Neither wore the Wehrmacht Penal Units red triangles on their uniform (see: Nazi concentration camp badge), nor were those units part of Feldgendarmerie - nazi German Military Police (!). I wonder who invents such obvious nonsense. --129.187.244.28 (talk) 09:17, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
