Notability

[edit]

News sources: [1] Book sources: [2] Some more than trivial mentions:

I agree that some of these tend to suggest notability. What I'm still not clear on is what precisely the label is notable for. Can you think of a concise statement of why the label is significant, ideally backed up by one or more of the above links, that could be added to the article? I guess because the founders are involved in some notable acts published on the label: Githead, Malka Spigel (of Minimal Compact), Colin Newman (of Wire (band)). Spigel and Newman of course run the thing, so in theory it could be covered in their BLPs, but since they run it together, and their notabilities are independent of each other, it's a bit awkward to write the same thing in each BLP, and it might make sense to have a standalone article on it. Their releases certainly get reviewed in mainstream press, e.g. NME, The Independent, BBC, BBC. What do you think? (Is your user name anything to do with Sparks (band)?) --JN466 15:58, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest that if you add a statement along those lines to the article, making sure to include some of the independent citations above, the article would probably meet the threshold of notability. Of course this is just my opinion, and I don't know a lot about music articles in Wikipedia. My username is from a Terry Pratchett book ;) Thparkth (talk) 16:24, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
:) Thanks, Thparkth. --JN466 17:51, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The BBC did a feature on them last year, here. --JN466 16:05, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the template {{vague}} because it needs make it clear if the tilde is pronounced or not. -- Marawe (talk) 05:58, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
