Swordswoman Riding West on White HorseBaima Xiao Xifeng – or any other form of pinyin per WP:NC-CHINA. The current title is not used by any reliable sources used by one reliable source, but seldom used. There is alternative title White Horse Neighs in the Western Wind, but also seldom used. And official English edition of the novel has not been done ever. Relisted. Jenks24 (talk) 12:35, 4 August 2014 (UTC) George Ho (talk) 01:39, 27 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment I'm curious where this title came from since it's not a translation of the original title. It has to come from somewhere! BTW, it should be "Bai ma xiao xi feng" if anything. Timmyshin (talk) 03:26, 27 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
...Can you propose it immediately when this discussion is closed? --George Ho (talk) 01:48, 4 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That's a title that I would certainly oppose, because there's no authority for that in a roughly translated title of Korean summary of a Chinese TV series based on the literary work. The pinyin would remain a better option than that. --Cold Season (talk) 21:16, 5 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. After waiting for the discussion to unfold, I have yet to see any evidence that the pinyin title is more common or widely known than the English titles. The examples given above by the nominator show the pinyin as a transliteration of the Chinese characters, not as standalone titles and, in one case, the pinyin is given as a parenthetical to an English title. I don't see the benefit for Wikipedia, as a general reference, to replace an admittedly problematic English title with a problematic one that is not in English. —  AjaxSmack  02:54, 7 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Swordswoman Riding West on White HorseWhite Horse Neighs in the Western Wind – The current title is used by the 2009 book, but there are no other reliable sources. This article was created in 2006, so probably we should stick to older sources that use different English title. The proposed English title is seldom used, as well. Nevertheless, it stays true to the original title (白馬嘯西風). Two sources use the proposed title; however, one uses indefinite article ("A") and other uses definite article ("The"). I will not encourage using either; ugh... the memories of Talk:Trollhunter. The following guidelines (WP:NC-ZH, WP:NCUE, and WP:NC-B) encourage romanized titles, but the pinyin title that I proposed was not well-supported. These guidelines also encourage commonly-used titles, but neither English title is commonly used. Worse, the novel has not yet been officially published in English. WP:UE (policy) encourages pinyin implicitly, but, again, pinyin title was not well-supported. If you are reading this, I may be oblivious on which policy or guideline applies. However, if no related rule is found, then let's apply WP:IAR, okay? Relisted Calidum Talk To Me 02:41, 21 August 2014 (UTC) George Ho (talk) 05:41, 13 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Mild Support The current title is not a true translation. Timmyshin (talk) 20:00, 22 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
