Victory Road = MOTOR City
[edit]To anyone who hasn't seen Victory Road, they were called "The Motor City Machine Guns" before and after the match, officially by the announcer. And honestly, it makes more sense. Murder City refers to a TV series set in England, while Motor City refers to Detroit, Michigan, where both Sabin and Shelley are from.
- Actually "Murder City" referred to Detroit at one time being the number one city in the U.S.A. when it came to homicides. Check out the May 31st edition of TNA Today to hear Shelley clearly say that the team's real name is indeed "The Murder City Machine Guns". He, however also said that TNA can PG the name all they want, and that's clearly what they have done.

Why TNA pulled MCMG from PWG
[edit]TNA has never made their wrestlers stop taking indy bookings. MCMG along with Kazarian, Joe, Styles and Daniels were pulled out of PWG because TNA didn't want their wrestlers to be featured on wrestling DVD's that were distributed by a third party (in this case Highspots.com). And Alex Shelley's last name is Shelley, not Shelly.
TheFBH 02:40, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- You caught my typo before I did. It doesn't matter why they banned who from appearing where. That has nothing to do with this article, that's part of TNA history and should be put there. For this article all that needs to be mentioned is that there was a request and it was honored, period.
- Also, the link to highspots would most likely be considered spam, and warring over which guys name to put first? Also, claiming the name has to do with an old team when no such thing has ever been stated is OR.«»bd(talk stalk) 02:59, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- What? It doesn't matter why they can't wrestle for PWG? That's ridiculous!! Of course it matters. TNA wrestlers can still wrestle for example CZW which is an indy company and this surely proves even to you that they DID NOT request their talent to not take indy bookings! Even that link that you just put up there clearly states this fact too. And I'll put up a link where Shelley names the Sexy Time Machine Guns, so just fuck off.
TheFBH 03:06, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- OK, I just realised you had that word "specific" in front of the whole "stop taking bookings"-thing. I don't know or care to find out how long that word has been there, but it changes everything and right now I don't have any problems with this article. And I also accept the fact that I can't prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the name is a play off of the name Sexy Time Machine Guns, even though it's pretty much common knowledge. You should however remove that same connection from the Alex Shelley-article too.

Motorcity Machine Guns
[edit]That's how they spelled it on last week's iMPACT! on their entrance video. TheFBH 16:19, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- Google searches on TNAWrestling.com, the official site, turn up eight hits for "Motor City Machineguns" and 2 for "Motor City Machine Guns". If anything it seems to be used interchangeably, so does it really matter? Are you going to want to move the page back and forth every time the chyron guy changes his mind? Two words redirects here, there's a note about the alternate spelling in the article. If one actually becomes more used than the other, that bridge can be crossed at that time.«»bd(talk stalk) 17:53, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- No, now they write the word "Motorcity" together and the words "Machine" and "Guns" separated. And it's on their entrance video, so it's not like they're going to change it every week.TheFBH 09:13, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Note: On their tron, it now says MMG -- PXK T /C 23:49, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
They appear to consistently use "Motor City Machine Guns" nowadays (as it should be) 68.175.49.82 (talk) 22:03, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
Return to ROH
[edit]Should it be noted that for the first time since last year, that the team will be returning to ROH on 4/18 and 4/19? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.87.68.184 (talk) 01:57, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Note: Just quickly, a google search of the 3 possible spellings turns up as :Motor City Machine Guns - 589,000 hits, Motorcity Machine Guns - 82,500 hits, Motor City Machineguns - 207,000 hits

Support - I don't even think you really need to seek consensus for this, to me this seem like a completely non-controversial move and you should be allowed to do this manually or get a "speedy" version approved. Per WP:THE, "The" is almost never used in article titles.CeltBrowne (talk) 19:43, 27 June 2023 (UTC)- @CeltBrowne, if you go by WP:NCAN, "the" should be added to the beginning to an article name. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 20:51, 1 July 2023 (UTC)
- Upon reading WP:NCAN, I see the issue and realise articles such as The Gunns (professional wrestling) would have to go to Gunns (professional wrestling), which wouldn't be correct. CeltBrowne (talk) 03:24, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
