Did You Know?

[edit]

The "Did you know?" entry for this page uses the information about the book being used to teach Philosophy classes in several universities. I looked at the links, and all they show is that there are two universities which are offering classes about Philosophy and the Simpsons. Nothing suggests that any university is using the book to teach a regular philosophy class, as is implied by the "did you know?" entry as well as the relevant area of the article. Unless someone can back this up, that information should be changed. Chachilongbow (talk) 16:55, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Check the cites, they support this information. Cirt (talk) 21:04, 7 December 2007 (UTC).[reply]
    • When I said, "I looked at the links," what I guess I meant was I looked at the cites. And like I said, the sentence wording is still misleading. Chachilongbow (talk) 10:32, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
      • How so? Cirt (talk) 10:33, 9 December 2007 (UTC).[reply]
        • The sources cited in the article don't support the claim which said, "The book has been used as an aid in many universities to help teach philosophy, with some having the book as the main text book for the course." The sources cited mention only one university where it's used, and at that university it's only one of the texts used, not the main text. Also I added some relevant info about the course taught at Berkeley: it's true that in that course it's the main text, but the course is taught not by a philosophy professor or even by a professor, but by a "student instructor" who is an English major. That seems to be an important detail. Check the sources. TruthPolice (talk) 14:23, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
