Requested move 18 January 2019[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Partially moved: consensus is clearly in favour of moves 1, 2 and 5, so they have been moved. Some opposed the third move and some opposed it. Some opposed the fourth move entirely and some supported it as stated but others supported Netoholic's alternative proposal, therefore the result for moves 3 and 4 is no consensus without prejudice against renomination to gain further consensus, if that is what IJBall, or any other user wishes to do. – There are multiple problematic articles with the base title "The Three Musketeers":

  1. The first of these is the 1968–1969 American TV series, which is currently using non-standard disambiguation under WP:NCTV, and should simply be moved to "by country" disambig. under WP:NCTV.
  2. The second of these, on the 2014 South Korean TV series, is better disambiguated from the others using "by country" disambiguation, and so should be moved to The Three Musketeers (South Korean TV series)
  3. The third of these, on the 1987 Japanese TV series, was moved without explanation or discussion by Magicperson6969 in May 2014 from the proposed title – as the current title is not the WP:COMMONNAME, this one should be moved back to its former pre-May 2014 title.
  4. The fourth of these, about a 2009 Japanese TV series, is currently using a totally non-standard disambiguation, and should be moved to simple, standard "by year" disambiguation under WP:NCTV (to distinguish from the 1987 Japanese TV series).
  5. The fifth of these needs additional disambiguation, as per WP:NCFILM and WP:INCDAB, to distinguish from The Three Musketeers (1973 animated film).

I believe the current proposal will solve the issue with the non-standard disambiguators in this case. --IJBall (contribstalk) 16:22, 18 January 2019 (UTC)--Relisted. –Ammarpad (talk) 08:50, 29 January 2019 (UTC) --Relisting. SITH (talk) 17:37, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support all but 3 which I don't have an opinion yet. These can easily follow the guidelines at WP:NCTV and WP:NCFILM. I'm not opposed to Netoholic suggestion, as I'm not against longer disambiguation for the sake of clarity. --Gonnym (talk) 00:17, 19 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose #3. It's part of the title. Dekimasuよ! 03:30, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Agreed with Netoholic's version, except for no. 1, use "US TV series". The dots serve no purpose here, MOS:US effectively discourages them, it's against WP:CONCISE, and they produce a really, really obvious WP:CONSISTENCY problem within the same title itself ("U.S." versus "TV"). We should mass-RM all the "U.S. TV" and "U.S. film" dismbiguations to use "US".  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  05:01, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • Um, no – that is completely contrary to WP:NCTVUS, as you well know, and we just had a RM about changing that which was closed as "No consensus" to change it. Your !vote here is an example of trying to WP:Game the system to get your way when it's already been decided to do the opposite. So it stays "U.S." P.S. WP:NCFILM doesn't even use "U.S." – they use "American" and "British", which NCTV should also change to using, but that's not a discussion to have here... --IJBall (contribstalk) 13:41, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
