Regarding counting penalty kick victories as a win

[edit]

There seems to be a view in the soccer world that a penalty kick victory isn't really a win. The problem comes when penalty kicks determine whether a team advances in a tournament, or even when they determine the champion. Obviously a team which wins the game on penalty kicks hoists a trophy and gets its name in the record book. Therefore, if the U.S. was involved in a game which went to penalty kicks, it should be counted not as a tie, as both teams didn't win, but as either a win or a loss for the U.S. Mohrflies (talk) 17:13, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A lot of links to match reports on ESPN result in a page not found error and have to be updated. Thanks. KevinLiu (talk) 20:45, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
