Unrelated information
[edit]The information pertaining to the UN Commendations given to UN observers during the Israel-Hezbollah conflict does not belong in this article. Whilst it is an interesting side point, it has nothing to do with the UN Service Medal-Korea. I believe that it should be removed. What does anyone else think? - I agree that it does not belong in the article, so I moved it here. That way if we can find a logical place to work it in, then it will be easily found. EricSerge (talk) 03:28, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
“ | As the UN has no medal for brave or lifesaving actions, UN military personnel can be awarded a UN Commendation by the Force Commander. In several cases UN Observers and UN forces soldiers have been awarded this highly esteemed commendation.
During the war between Hezbollah and Israel, three UN Observers performed life saving first aid on an Italian Observer that had been shot in the back. Even though the team was caught in a cross fire they managed to arrange a medical evacuation to the Israeli side of the blue-line. The Observers were Marc Van Cauwenberghe, Xang Xinjian and Lars Hawaleschka Madsen. The unfortunate Observer that got shot in the back was the Italian Observer Roberto Punzo. For this life saving and brave action Marc Van Cauwenberghe and Lars Hawaleschka Madsen received United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation's Chief of Staff Commendation. During the same war all four Observers also saved the lives of 36 civilian Lebanese refugees that were caught in the fire. |

Clasps = "None" ?
[edit]The infobox currently has "None" in the entry for Clasps, causing it to show up as "Clasps = None". Shouldn't it either A) be blank - so that it doesn't show at all, or B) be "Korea" since the medal always comes with a Medal Bar reading "Korea" in the respective language? I'm not sure the distinction between a Medal Bar and a Campaign Clasp (in fact I note that the Wikipedia link for Campaign clasp redirects to Medal bar) so I'm not sure if it should be A or B, but having it read "None" is misleading. I'll change it to be blank (option A) for now, but should it read "Korea" (option B)? Gecko G (talk) 01:34, 2 June 2014 (UTC)
