Name of article

[edit]

Shouldn't the proper name of the article be: Thiru V. Kalyanasundara Mudaliar? -- Avi 16:52, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Tiru" is the Tamil equivalent of "Mr." - it's always used with his name as a mark of respect. Mudalaiyar is a caste suffix. V. Kalyanasundaram was against the caste system and usually wrote his name without adding "Mudalaiyar", so I'd say that V. Kalyanasundaram is probably the best place for it. -- Arvind 23:47, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the explanation. Any verified/cited additions you can add to the article would be appreciated. -- Avi 00:31, 13 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've expanded it a little, and added some print sources. Only one is in English, I'm afraid, because that's the only one I could check in a hurry. And thanks for the google research you did to oppose the VfD! -- Arvind 10:52, 13 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
A pleasure. I may be a deletionist by philosophy, but that does not include throwing out valid articles :) -- Avi 15:17, 13 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Conflicting death dates in article

[edit]

I just noticed that in the article lead September 17 is given, while later in the article September 19 is listed as the date of his death. Does someone know which is correct? Shanata (talk) 14:46, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed, thanks. -- Avi (talk) 01:34, 7 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
